Neutrals on eBay

Just received a neutral rating on eBay with the buyer saying they didn't receive the item in time for Xmas. The thing is, when the item was listed, bid on, and paid for, it was made clear that shipping by Xmas was in no way guaranteed because of post office overload. The person paid quick enough, and it was shipped immediately with priority post. Yet they still go and give us a neutral. At least it wasn't a neg. This person seems to have a habit of neutralling people who they don't think ship quickly enough. I mean, how are sellers responsible for the post office being congested during the holidays? We're not! The bidder knew of the holiday rush and was told before bidding. Just venting, I think they were unfair. I neutralled them back, however, and emphasized the post office being out of my control.

yeah some people go out of their way to try to diminish peoples ratings on ebay, you should point out to them that it actually says on the website that sellers are not responsible for the posting part of the items i.e. at the post office part.

They are just being pernickety and unfair. The Post Office is beyond any seller's control and notoriously unreliable, especially during the holidays. It's such a shame that someone has to abuse the feedback system this way because they have a bad attitude. :(

I totally agree with you in this situation. People need to understand that during the holidays the mail is naturally going to be slower. My husband works for the Postal Service so I know how congested it gets from listening to him. Hopefully you won't have to deal with this person again. I'm like you, I wait about leaving feedback for a while on all my listings also. Good luck! SheliaLee

Hi Beeeckie, I do not think you should worry to much about this person's neutral rating. You did the best you could and made no guarantees which was smart. I hope you won't let this deter you from any more Ebay business. The thing about customer service is that it can be quite hit or miss. You do not always know what type of person you are dealing with, and what if your best is not good enough for a better than average rating, well it can take a toll on your overall rating, but have confidence in your ability and always be realistic about what you CAN do. Take Care.
