I see all these great hypes about "heathy eating",I am 61 years old,and according to my doctor,in great shape, good heart, proper weight, other than depression that I've had all my life,I should continue for a long time. now comes the cruncher,I live on hambugers, chili, roast beef, you name it,and the puritains say it is unhealthy to eat,I basically always have eaten it.so where is the bad in this kind of food? I find todays society to be a bunch of get in your face jerks,if you wish to go veggie,or health food, fine, just quit telling me how bad my food is,I am not interested. I am sorry if anyone finds this offensive. I would like to see all sides of this issue thank you..

eating less is health. you see, it is predestined what you will eat in your life. so... eat less and increase your lifetime. or, eat more and reduce your lifetime

Your Doctor says you are healthy, so why change a thing. Enjoy what you eat. I eat the things I like as well. I do try to eat healthy, but I like my pepparoni and cheese snacks. Heak I even like eating cream cheese on a tablespoon for a snack.

I think that eating healthy is a start to feel better in our body and our mind. Absolutely no doctor will tell you it's a bad thing to eat healthy because it will help you a lot. It doesn't mean that eating junk food will kill you but keeping a good diet is the best thing to do. have a nice day Pete

Food - Nutritious foods.
For me healthy eating is good. We should eat whatever our hearts desire. Individually, we feel what is good or bad to us and of course, we should not do what is bad. There are people who lack the appetite and they look sickly and so we should be grateful if we have the appetite to eat and look healthy. I don't see your food as bad. As many people say, it is better to die satisfied than hungry.

I do agree.it is like many things in our cultures today, there are to many ready to tell us how to live our lives,so they can get rich selling books and such,or having laws made to stop us from "harming " ourselves, thank you for your comment.

What suits you, what satisfies your hunger, is what's the best for you. Don't pay much attention on them, since most of them only intends of earning money from those who fools that believe they are eating BAD foods. I also love those stuffs, with pork and spicy foods always on my daily menu. I don't have to deprive myself of something that I enjoy doing/eating the most, I just balance them and avoid of having too much.

Well, it sounds like you got a great inheritance from your ancestors - you got healthy genes. You are so lucky, maybe you should leave your body to science so that future generations can benefit from your health.

I personally think that eating hamburger, chili and roast beef is perfectly acceptable, where a lot of people make their mistake, and I'm one of the worse is we just plain eat too much. If I could make myself eat more vegetables and I do love veggies, but my weakness is meat. It's good to eat meat but like everything else in moderation. I'd have made a good dog...lol

I do have a healthy body and I am not much of a fish eater, mostly beef, chicken and some pork. I do eat corn, peas, cabbage, brussle sprouts, and once in awhile carrots, but only with the meat dinners. with my hamburgers I usually have french fries with catsup and plenty of salt. thank you for you comment.

Hi mac1946, I am very happy to note that you are very healthy at 61. I have seen people above your age who posses good health. Nobody will suggest a person to change his food style habits, if that person is healthy. In other words no healthy person will ask about 'healthy eating'. Only people who had some kind of health problems, that also if their health problem requires a change in their eating habits will ask for healthy eating styles. I also suggest people to eat as it is until they are advised by thier doctor to do so. Please stick to your present food habit---let us not anticipate that some thing is going to happen to us in future and restrict ourself from present food habits. Prevention is better than cure will not apply here. This apply only in cases of epidemics and bacterial infections. I would like you to come out of your depression also. Good Luck.

thank you, yes, there are certain people who must change their diet by doctors orders, but the people I am after, are the ones, that tell you that you must change for your own good. how do they know what is good for me,just because some doctor or scientist says it is bad for you,all you see is advertizments to get you to change. as for the depression,I am afraid that was with me from birth and can only be helped with medication, but right now,I have it under control. thank you for your concern and comment.

I take healthy eating but don't agree with your doctor. Healthy eating doesn't equal to only eating healthy food but keeping balance eating in life. I eat hambugers, chili and roast too becuase I like them and a small quantity doesn't harm me. Unless your health is too serious to eat them, it will be good for you to eat small quantity or maybe you lose your temper for long-tems dissatisfactory to your favorite food. And when your feeling bursts, you perhaps have a uncontrolled eating to them.

I must admit,I do have strange eating habits,I do not eat breakfast untill around 11 am or later, but once I start,I find it hard to quit. I will somedays eat 4 to 6 burgers or a good large steak,or a load of pasta for the rest of the day. thank you for your comment.
