Internet Becomes Waste Of Time

Has the Internet developed into a collasal waste of time for you? There are people who make a living working on the Internet. There are people who are trying to start businesses online. There are people who perform research over the Internet. There are others who use the Internet for keeping in touch with family and friend. There are thousands of reasons why the Internet is used in our everyday lives. But for some people, the Internet has developed into a complete waste of time. Are you productive on the Internet or do you feel like you just waste your time. Is there something else you should be doing, but just can't seem to step away from your computer? How do you use your computer? Or, is your computer using you?

well i think it depends on what you call a waste of time. wasting time to one person is a very productive day to the next person. I have a few reasons why i am online all day. I am making money, meeting new and wonderful people as yourself. I am starting up an online and offline business that should be up and running by march. I think if you are doing anything that you enjoy it is never a waste of time.

I use my computer for many things. I use it to make money. I also use it as a way to communicate with family in other states. This is a cheaper way to communicate for us instead of phone calls. We also put the camera's on the computers so we can talk face to face. I like to research places to take vacations. I also like to make some of the reservations online as well because it is cheaper. I love to save money and with the computer I save a lot of money. I belong to a website where we discuss good deals on and off the net. We save each other lots of money. When more than one person is working the money can increase by at least twenty percent. If you like to shop at CVS, you can share your deals with others and they will tell you theirs this just make your chances of saving more money evey better. I also like to shop at riteaid with coupons and rebates you will find that brand name items cost pennies or nothing. I usually write my deals at gather.com. That is a good site to find freebies as well. When you go online and order samples that saves you money as well. I love going to the mail box and finding surprises in it.

I practically live in front of my computer..LOL. It's only been almost a year since I got my own computer and maybe I'm making up for lost time?? Before my own computer I had to rely on the free use at libraries that were timed for only an hour. I'm trying to build my own on-line photo business, something I could never have dreamed of doing at the library, as they didn't have film scanners to convert my slide images into digitized ones. I spend some of my time doing that now, plus write articles, plus try to write in one of my novels or short stories..Now I'm plagued with just not having ENOUGH time to do it all...seems now with my own computer I only find MORE things to use a computer for--then of course spend a lot of time here..I also have my own discussion forum that I've built up..no, doesn't pay, but another place to hang out at and a much more relaxed atmosphere--and I'm the boss there, the administrator...hehee, kind of a nice feeling there. :)

Cool beans pye......productive......that's good. I use mine for many things. Been on it since the beginning I think. I always said I wouldn't - but guess what - I did......and haven't been able to get off it since then. Sometimes I stay up all night long. I think we all do every now and then... I write articles, wrote three books, and still writing......I guess I could say, the computer helped put me (financially) where I am today. That's a good thing....LOL

Yes it does become a waste of time for me sometimes. I feel like I'm hypnotized and I couldn't bring myself to stop whatever I was doing online -- important or not. This is precisely why I don't open the pc as often as I did before. I know that when I start using it, its hard for me to think of the time.

listen. flood of information is always useless, because it makes u wander, u r prone to losing interest and getting involved in other things leaving aside your actual aim. sorted, concise and exact info is always useful. by the way we should also learn to differentiate between information and knowledge, which cannot come through internet.

Internet is an integral part of my life . To be honest , i cant imagine my life without it . I use it for a lot of things . To stay in touch wih my loved ones ( it doesn't cost anything , haaha) . Read wats happening in the technology world , online shopping , many other things . Sometimes i do find that its a waste of time , coz i kepp on sitting there when i'm supposed to get up . But good things have some bad effects also . But mostly the internet is beneficial to me .

I mostly use the internet just for creative purposes (doing my websites, etc) and business endeavors... and some participation in money-making sites like this here and there. I am not one of those young adults who spends excessive amounts of time on MySpace/Facebook, etc. using the internet to socialize as some kind of alternate lifestyle. So, no, I wouldn't say it is a waste of time for me. I mostly use it for productive matters and I stay in touch with a few far-away friends via e-mail but I don't play games and socialize like so many other people do because I've just never been into that. I say I can't live without the internet just because of its productive and business purposes and benefits, not because it's "fun." So... I am using the computer basically... it's not using me. =)

it depends on what you do on the internet i guess. if you play games or chat, sure then it is a waste of time, but if you are doing research or working (even on mylot) it is not (in my opinion anyways...)

I love being on the internet. I believe that watching television is a waste of time, so I spend my t.v. time on the internet. The internet has so very much to offer. But, the main thing for me is researching and learning. I was online just as much or maybe more before I started earning money. When I work online to earning money, it is more tiring than being on there for pure learning pleasure. I keep thinking that at some point I will get tired of it, but I just never do.

It's just for fun to me Rozie. I use it a lot for entertainment. I've never made a fortune off it thought, although I wish I could.

I'll start from your last phrase... unfortunately, computer uses me! Pc is not any more a machine that I USE it for my purposes, but instead i became its "machine"! I do not remember any day without opening and using it either for educational purposes, or just for entertaining myself during a free time. But my free time, after learning how to use the computer had grow more and more! The time which i have to do something important, becomes again a "spare time" as computer makes me forger what i have to do and as today everything can be accessed through Internet, i most of the times do not find the reason of getting out of house! In fact, i believe that internet makes people less social beings, and so do I became!

That's one of the reasons I limit my time on it m2op66. I installed a program (for fun) that I can set like a timer that tells me, "Step away from the computer".,.....too funny.

It's all relative. Since I have already a good paying job, I can afford to waste the rest of my time on Internet. If I didn't have that job I think I would be in danger of procrastination with Internet.
