All by myself....It is quiet except for the ticking of the little rooster clock on my desk. I can't hear it tick when I type but I can when I stop. It is so refreshing to be alone and to be able to take a deep breath. I have some work to do but just had to share how serene this aloneness feels right now. Have you ever felt this way?

I love it when I work on Saturdays at the bank. I am in my office alone too, and I get so much work done without the distractions of the phones, customers, co-workers. I actually achieved a lot today when I went to work this morning (SAT) until the stupid computer lost connection. I had some scanning to do, got about 4 files done, could have done 3-4 more if not for the computer problems. Even tho, it was still a very fruitful day

When it happens in the middle of the day it refreshes me for the rest of the day.

the office that i work in is small but busy, so there is no peace there, but when i get home (i only work from 9am - 1pm) it is just me and my kitty and the internet until my daughters get home from school (around 3:30). i purposely dont put the radio on...right now all i can hear is our furnace.

My husband has to have the tv on at all times. I've learned to tune it out over the years. When he is not home sometimes I will turn everything in the house off and sit with a magazine and enjoy the solitude.

I have felt the same way at times. Sometimes I really enjoy just sitting at my desk or anywhere in my house and listening to the sound of nothing.

Sometimes the sound of nothing is more enjoyable than the sound of all the junk around us or going on in our heads.

Lonely happy solitude.... sigh yes i love it! I live in the country and I love to walk to what I call my special place lol.... It is a rock slab under a HUGE oak tree. I mean this oak has got to be at least 200 years old. There is a small brooke that winds it's way past my little sitting place. I sit there for hours doing nothing but listening. Listening to the water tumbling around the rocks almost laughing. I hear the birds singing their songs and flying about. I hear the bees buzzing about their business. Once this huge Buck (deer) came walking out and came to within I'd say 8 feet of me before he looked at me I swear there was surprise on the creatures face and then he bounded over the brooke and over into the woods. God it is a small piece of eden. So far away from it all. I think to myself this is how the land was before us with our grand capitalizm and industrialization moved in here. This is my spot for my silent happy solitude. I work in an office and the sound around me is a cacophony. people talking on phones, phones ringing, people talking amoung their friends, chip bags crinkling, the tap tap tap tap of keyboards (200 or so strong) AH! It is horrid.

Your special place sounds wonderful. Many big city people pay exhorbitant fees to go to a "spa" that is a littlepiece of nature like you have described. I pray it stays that way for you and not that some developer finds it. Your description was wonderful. I can close my eyes and repeat your words and almost see your special place. Enjoy!!
