California seeking to take over your thermostat

California is trying to pass a bill that would allow them - in an energy crisis or to prevent black out/brown outs - to override the temperature settings in your home to control your power usage. Personally, I am not too keen about Big Brother controlling things in our lives. However, I would rather them hijack my thermostat than be without power. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/11/us/11control.html?_r=2&ref=us&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

Personally i think it is pretty good move. I think we all shoud take the responsibility of trying t conserve energy rather than being overly greedy. I als understand that a section of right minded citizens are alsways put through difficulties due to anther section of perople who are less careful.

I'm with you...if people aren't going to do what they can to concerve energy then they have every right to do this to prevent black outs.

I think that being able to override something as small as power in the event of a black out or something is needed. I mean, some people just don't know how to conserve energy and crank up the thermostat as high as possible to get the maximum effect, so really, being able to control that so the rest of the city or people can have power should happen. People just need to stop being greedy and realize other people exist besides themselves.
