I'm Dying

Ok, so it is a slight exaggeration but it seriously feels this way. It started Friday with a runny nose and a hacking cough. Yesterday I had a fever then it would break then I would have another fever. I was sweating then I was freezing. I swear I cracked a rib coughing. I couldn't keep anything down and I think I slept 18 out of yesterdays 24 hours. Today I thought I felt better until I tried to do laundry. So here's my symptoms. I have a fever that comes and goes. A hacking cough I can't get rid of but no chest congestion or mucus. My whole body hurts and my head feels like it is going to explode. I still don't think I can hold anything down but I tried to eat some soup today but lost interest when I realized I couldn't take in enough air while I was eating. Any one have any tried and true home remedies that will make me feel better?

Awww honey I'm so sorry your sick. Stay away from that baby of yours .... LOL!! But as for tried and true. Steamy shower with lots of hot water beating on your achy bones, Nyquil (Denis Leary no cure for cancer will explai nwhy), and tea. Also maybe somewhisky in the tea. Other than that I'm sorry but your going to have to ride it out without getting your kiddos sick. Have fun.

yep the Nyquil should make you high enough that you don't care about anything and it should also knock you out cold so you sleep through your sickness, thus making it fun when you wake up all better.

WOW! I'm so sorry to hear you're under the weather. My sympathy definitely goes out to you. If it makes you feel any better, I had bronchitis, pharyngitis, a fever of 104 degrees, and a sinus infection only a few days before Christmas. (I was still taking my steroids for the lung pain until shortly after the holidays.) Now, only a few weeks later, I have the achy flu where my back hurts so bad that it makes my stomach hurt when my stomach wasn't hurting at all. When my back stops hurting, my stomach hurts again...sometimes they hurt at the same time. Blah, blah, blah. My stomach has been so upset for the last five days. I just feel icky. So I feel your pain! Here are some ideas that I tried while I had bronchitis about a month ago. First of all, drink water like you've never done before! That will take your temperature down at least a couple degrees per day. It may go back up, but drinking lots of water will do the trick. Also, if you like juice or some kind of flavored drink (other than soda/pop), drink that also in between your glasses of water. What I usually did for my fever was carried a huge water bottle around like it was my lifesaver or something. (LOL) My family always laughed at me. Another thing you can do is sleep, sleep, sleep. If you're up doing laundry, it's wonderful to get things done, but you're not letting your body rest enough. Do the things around the house that must be done today. Let everything else go for a while. If you can't get into a deep sleep, lay on the couch or comfortable recliner and watch TV. I've never watched more TV than I did the week before the holidays when I was sick! (LOL) I learned a lot too. It was funny. You may also want to consider a hot bath or shower. Let your chest clear out by breathing in some hot steam. One of the only times I felt almost back to normal when I was sick was when I was taking a hot shower. It really help me feel rejuvenated. It's definitely worth a try for you to get better! I'm happy to hear you're not having any sinus effects. That would be a shame! I certainly hope these ideas help you and that you start getting well very soon! We need you back on myLot. :)

I hope you're feeling better now. Thanks for mentioning about your sons. They seem very playful; what an adorable thing to do - pounce on their mom in the recliner. I'm glad you avoided that situation this time around. I wish you good health for a long time to come! Thanks for your comment as well.

In a perfect world I wouldn't have two little boys who view me laying in a recliner as an invitation to pounce on me. I have managed to keep my illness to myself though so that is a good thing. At least I am up and almost mobile today. It might be a good sign. Thanks for the comment.

3 weeks? I'll shot myself in the foot before then. And no shooting myself in the foot won't get rid of my cold but it will make me forget about it for a little while.
