Well I could not talk my wife into making her delicous home made chicken noodle soup this past weekend. We've been sick here with colds and I really wanted the chicken noodle soup to help the cold and to make me feel better. But she did try a soup recipe that her sister showed her how to make when she visited her brother recently. We had sirloin steaks for lunch Saturday and she used some of this beef and made vegetable beef soup. Gawd was it ever tasty. So much so she even had a bowl for breakfast this morning. Yes soup for breakfast. It was a large pot that she made as well. We ate half the pot Saturday afternoon/evening. It will be gone soon as I am heating the leftovers now as I type and dad even smelled it asking what's cooking. So him & I will finish it off soon enough. Do you make your own soups? What's your favorite home made soup(s)? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am making a pot of Beef Stew for dinner tonight loaded up with lots of veggies. I make a lot of soup when it is cold outside. My favorite is French Onion. I make that about once a month and serve it with some nice crusty bread and cheese.

Mmmmmmmmm!!! Now I am craving some fresh French Onion soup. I love that stuff. I am the only one in my family that does. they think it's gross because of the bread in it. But thats what makes it great. Now I may have to go out for dinner this week alone and have me a bowl or two. HAHAHA!! Thanks. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I love to make French Onion soup from scratch. I make sure and cook the onions at a low temperature for a very long time to make sure they are nice and carmelized.

Yes, we make our own soups, and they are never the same way twice. I like ham and potato, broccoli and cheese, spicy chicken soup, chili. Boy, you are making me hungry right now, or rather I am making myself hungry. I could do soup for breakfast.

Soup for breakfast isn't a bad idea. I eat breakfast usually before I go to bed at night. Maybe so I can get onto myLot first thing in the morning not needing to eat? HAHAHAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That looks pretty yummy! I would like to have some soup tonight because I have been cold all day long. The only kind of soup I make homemade is taco soup. I have gotten some soup recipes online before but I don't think I've ever made them. I need to try to make some sometime. I love potato soup so I would love to have an easy potato soup recipe.

I wouldn't mind the recipe for this. I am a lover of cooking & soups are high on my list. Especially being able to make a soup from left overs. I am not sure if I could manage eating soup for breakfast. Soup is very healthy, & can be great for people on diets.

Awwwww sorry to hear you have been sick, Grandpa Bob. Homemade chicken soup does taste extra good when your sick which is why I always make a very huge batch and freeze at least 1/2 of it for when we get sick. Just pop it in the micro and it's defrosted and hot. Ppl always know when I'm bout to make my chicken soup. I buy several stew chickens, lots of celery, onions, garlic, extra-wide noodles. Sometimes I even put in a bell pepper.

favorite..i guess the dill chicken soup i make. all it is, is some chicken, cut up potatoes, fresh onion, two tbsp of butter (oh yeah!),a can of cream of chicken to thicken a lil bit,and about a handful of dill seeds. i prefer the seed over the herb itself, because it tends to add more flavor in simmering. sometimes i add a little mustard as well, just a very small amount, gives it a kick. really great on a cold day.

My husband calls me the soup queen. I make soups out of our leftovers all the time. I make chicken noodle, chicken and rice as well as chicken vegetable I make these by boiling up the leftover chicken and the carcass after roasting a chicken for dinner. I make black bean soup, potato soup.and lentil soup out of ham leftovers and the bone. I make vegetable beef and beef and barley soups from leftover roasts. After we have a turkey I boil the carcass and make turkey noodle soup. Soups are great on cold winter days. They are also great ways to stretch out the food budget.

Funny you mention beef soup I just put a bunch of beef soup in the freezer. We ate two nights off it and I froze some and sent some home to a friend for dinner last night. I took the beef bones from christmas prime rib dinner and a part of a left over roast and combined them. I then cooked them down, with celery and onions. When the meat was good and tender I took the bones and fat out and added veggie. I did not have to add much spices because the roast and beef bones where spiced well. I added a few noodles. YUM I also have chicken catchatori that I have to freeze that we ate the last two night. lOL

I've made soups over the years. Split pea soup is one of my favorites to make. So simple and easy to make in the crock pot. I've made potato soup too. Since it's just me now, I haven't made any soup beside a pot of chili. I would be eating on it forever if I made it just for my self.
