Scrapbooking at the expense of spending time with those you're scrapping about?

This thought just came to me... those of us who love scrapbooking also know that we can spend long hours just scrapping and pasting cutting glueing. Some of us would confess to participating in crops that last up to 7 hours! The irony of it is that we usually archive these photos, decorate and journal about these moments, but those whom we are journaling about sometimes are simultaneously complaining that we are scrapping instead of spending time with them! Guess this could also apply to other hobbies in a limited way. Do you have similar experiences? How do you strike a balance between your passions, your hobbies and those you love?

I am a beginner when it comes to scrapbooking but I love to do it. Before the baby was born I used to lose myself painting. I would lose hours sitting there painting. I do scrapbooking the same way I do my other hobbies now, I do them when the baby is napping or late at night.

That's never really become a problem for me. I do my scrapbooking (just gonna do this one page, or two or wow 6 hours have passed) when he is busy doing other things. He loves to watch hockey, and it's okay, I watch it sometimes with him, but he doesn't mind if I'm across the room scrapbooking while he's watching the game. On Saturday's he likes playing his games on his computer, it's relaxing to him, so I do scrapbooking. I don't feel it becomes a problem until it takes over all your waking hours, and laundry is piling up, and the dog is dancing to go outside.........

Hobbies seem to have taken a back seat for a long time. Since I graduated and started work, I rarely have time to do much hobbies. Other than the TV watching in the evenings, pursuing a hobby seems to be a lost event in my schedule. I do hope to pick it up again though. I am sure there are lots of times in the middle of stuff that you can work on your hobby. Like when you are watching TV? Waiting for the laundry?... etc etc

I do alot of scrapping and alot of stamping..but I try to balance things out. If my kids want to come over and visit....I always say yes. My sisters and I enjoy several weekends a year where we power scrap! We get tons done....go out for dinner together and spend quality time exchanging ideas and sharing our tools! I do think for the most part I balance it out!

It can be hard to balance what you love to do and those you love. My family doesn't really mind when I scrapbook because they all love the finished product. I just can't scrapbook fast enough for them. Which reminds me, I was suppose to do a spread for my daughter to take to show and tell about the broken arm she had last August for tomorrow. I forgot again. (Bad mom.) I think I'm going to have to sit down and do it this weekend for her.
