Whenever Indian selection committee select a team dropping ganguly to participate in a tournaments papers and Tv channels become impatient. They raise voice as to why he has been dropped. In Australia , Perth cricket test was won by India nearly because of Laxmans game plan to raise the respectable total above 400 runs with the help of the bowler R.P.Singh.No body will deny this. In this winning match Rahul Dravid and Laxman also did their part well. But Laxman as well as Dravid not considered for the fourth coming T-20 match to be played on feb 3rd.The selection committee has given an acceptable answer for dropping this players.Youngsters should gradually take initiative now itself in order to form a well an steady team for the next world cup. When there is no dispute a raised over dropping of dravid, why people of Kolkatta make hue and cry on this issue?

First of all I am a bengali and from Kolkata too. But i do not join these people in protesting on roads and so on. It may be bengalis are much reactive when he has been dropped. But this time i guess the decision is unfair. In TV there are so many Non-bengalis like sidhu and all were also protesting. I think as this time, when he was really in good form, they have not done right dropping him. It seems dhoni has proved he is much better palyer tahn all these sourav, dravid and laxman. I think his performance was dismal in this test series. Lets india win by dropping all senior players and then it will be proved how was the decision. then there will be no protest and all. I think also they were thinking of dropping Sachin also. So i think its a really bold decison and Let us ee what happens.

I agree with you. Sourav Ganguly should be a automatic choice as far as one dayers are concerned. I cant understand how can anybody think of dropping him when he has scored more than 1000 runs last year in one dayers. India has never been known for its fielding with exceptions like Yuvraj Singh. When it comes to combining aggression with consistency Sourav is there with the very best in the world.

Well without making this a Bengali vs. non-bengali issue, I think most people all over India support ganguly for the following reasons: Firstly, after a very spineless and uninspiring era of Indian cricket, sourav ganguly as the captain lifted the team to a height which all Indian dreamt of but could not see. Cricketers in India are pampered like gods and people want their gods to deliver. Our team was not making a great impact on international cricket but sourav changed all that. Secondly, most Indian officials have a habit of allowing foreigners to get over us both on and off the field and players are expected to show the same respect and timidity to visiting teams. But the general public is tired of their heroes bowing down to foreigners and pampering them and showing them unnecessary respect on the field. I think sourav was the only captain who put his team first before the visitors. You will remember how he had media fights with the legendary Steve Waugh when Australia was visiting India and how he kept Steve Waugh waiting on the field for the toss. All this was done to put mental pressure on the visitors, which no Indian captain had done before. Even cricketers were expected to follow the ‘atithi narayana’ dictum of Indian culture. Thirdly, ganguly is the only captain who did not favour his own zone while being the captain. He promoted talent from all over India and that is why all Indians love him. Lastly, I think Bengalis are so sentimental about his coz throughout the history of Indian cricket, Bengal and the east zone has been very very poorly represented. Talent and merit are not always the deciding factor in India and many players have continued playing in the national side because of strong regional lobbying. Sourav is the first and only cricketer till date who has made it so big on the national side more due to his talent and less due to influence. So naturally, Bengalis are so sentimental and protective about him.

I think that Sourav should be included in the ODI team, about Rahul, he had been rested, and now he is performing in the tests, he should Open in Adleiade instead of Jaffar, and should also be included in the ODI's

I would slightly digress from the views expressed here. No doubt, the selection committee and Dhoni want a younger team for the ODIs for the sole reason that they field well (Munaf included!!!). But we have seen time and again that in the bouncing pitches of Australia, the youngsters don't have a clue abt what the bowl is doing. Experience and form should be given precedence over age, and though fielding and athleticism are becoming the new mantra in the world of cricket, cricket is still a game of bat and bowl and people should be picked depending on who does best in these two departments

I agree with your views. Whosoever gets dropped from the Indian cricket team, irrespective of the reasons, media unnecessarily make too much noise about that. It is not that Ganguly is a bad player, but others also need to be given some opportunities. And in one-dayers fielding is also very important, it gives an edge to a team, so if Ganguly has been dropped due to his fielding, papers should not make so much noise.

I guess the newspapers, media and the public have a propensity to go overboard with the exclusion of Saurav Ganguly. One of the reasons why there's no such hue and cry over Laxman and Dravid is because they have not been regular members of the one-day team off-late. But Saurav's exclusion comes after he had been in the team regularly and performing fairly decently off-late. I assure you that these raucous is going to get worse if players like Yuvraj, Raina, Robin and others start failing. People and media in India have no patience with these policies of youngsters, and they wont certainly hold back their grievances if immediate results are not obtained.

Bengalis think that they can protect and get what they want. It is not fair on their part to make it a public issue. The selectors are very clear that they want younger player to play cricket. Ganguly has not played less cricket for this country. I feel Tendulkar also should have been remvoed from the team. Simply because Pawar is from Maharastra - a state from which Tendulkar hails, he wants to help his state person a chance to make the world record. The Bombayites are taking sides and not good for indian cricket.

I think Laxman should have also been picked for the ODI series. I think in the Australian pictures Laxman is a very good player. I do not know why the selectors keep Laxman out of the ODI series. I think it is good to rotated players against the weaker countries. I think it was not good to rush the young players against the country like Australia. I think experienced players like Laxman, Dravid, and Ganguly should be in the team in the ODI series against Australia.

i think the selection commitee was somewhere wrong ,i m fully satisfied with the decision of not taking dravid because he hasnt perform in one days and not exceptinal in tests too.but what is cause of geeting out saurav when he was in form yaa it was right to give chances to youngster but not on the place of permorming players it always give chances to the lovers one if it was not like that then why commitee giving chances to virendra sehwag again and again as he was not permorming well from a big time not in one days and not in the tests too. and in the case of laxman it was mix decision i can accept this decision

i agree to the point that Youngsters should take the initiative to lead team India .. but u cannot deny the fact that youngsters have been a failure as a batsman in the whole series yuvraj singh and M.S. Dhoni .. both of them did not live upto the expectations.. yuvraj singh had been struggling to open his runs account... they could not even save the Sydney test match India is in a strong position just bcoz of the senior players.. even in the 4th test u can see Dhoni's failure... But BCCI doesn't look at all this.. They keep opn tintering With senior players

Sourav should be a automatic choice for India in one dayers just as Dravid in Test Matches and Sachin should be a automatic choice in both forms of the game. Sourav more than makes up for his fielding with aggressive yet consistent peformances. Laxman usually scores faster than most aggressive batsmen in Test Matches, yet surprisingly he is left out in one dayers.

India have to include both young and experienced players... Young players are the most plus point of any team...so we have to build a team with young talents..For this we have to programme deep searches through out the country... But At the same time there is an important role for experienced veteran stars...They give the inpiration and experience to the young also... So we have to made a team with giving importance to this facts...
