Yesterday I wanted to have oatmeal for breakfast. I didn't have any milk left and didn't want to get dressed just to go to the little store up on the corner for milk so I improvised and put a scoop of carmel pecan ice cream in my oatmeal just to cool it down! Wow!!! It's great. It's like putting sweet cream and nuts in it! Next time you have oatmeal try a scoop of ice cream in it!

That does sound pretty good, actually. I usually do not put milk on my oatmeal, I like sugar and real butter. We have tried different things, but I always go back to the sugar and butter. I don't think there is a set rule as to what can go on oatmeal, as with any good cuisine, it is whatever tastes good and is appealing to the senses. That is how so many different recipes have come about, people trying something else instead of the norm. I can't believe I am commenting on oatmeal, wait till I tell the girls at work, haha.

That seems like a very interesting concept. I love eating conflakes with vanilla icecream but oatmeal seems a little strange to me. If you likethe tase go on and have fun. I hope that there are many other people out there that like to mix their foods (me being one) and have no problem. Enjoy your food.

that's really interesting. I guess ice cream would add the flavour of milk into it since it is a dairy product. this made me think of something that I like to do with ice cream. I love having granola toppings on my ice cream. they provide some crunch and also make me feel like the ice cream i'm ingesting is healthier!

That is a totally wonderful idea! I like granola! And like you said it would give it some crunch and substance! Thanks for sharing!

Sounds like you enjoyed it. But I think I'll pass. Doesn't sound like it would be good for my diet. LOl But I am sure my daughter would think it's a great idea. You know those commercials about oatmeal being good for bring down cholestorol? Do you think it still does if its topped with ice cream?

That is very creative. I would not have thought of doing that. I will try that next time I have a bowl of oatmeal. It sounds like it was delicious. Thanks for the neat idea.

When I first read your title I thought "Yuck! That sounds disgusting!" But, after I opened it up and read it, it actually sounds pretty good. I was thinking you used ice cream as the liquid to cook the oatmeal. I add a little milk to my oatmeal after I cook it as well, so now I can see what you were talking about! I'll have to try that one time.

It makes the oatmeal very creamy! And sweet. So you don't have to add sugar. I've eaten it four days in a row now...wonder if I can go back to eating it with milk! LOL
