I know it is contagious, one of my friends had to take her daughter to the Emergency, to get her daughter treated for the Pink Eye. I told her it is contagious, and what if she gets it do you think she will get it from her daughter? I think she should notify the school and let her teacher know that her daughtwr has Pink eye, they should send a notice home.

I know that it is highly contagious also. There is a good possibility your friend may get it also. They need to make sure to disinfect everything that each other is touching. I heard you can get it if you touch something someone else has touched that has pink eye. They should keep the daughter home from school also because the daughter could infect the other children also. that would be the best thing to do, is to keep her home until she heals.

Pink eye is very contagious. It is also known as conjunctivitis. It is basically a redness and inflammation of the membranes that cover the whites of the eyes and inner parts of eyelids. I actually had it about two months ago. It was not fun at all. It hurts and itches. It can cause your ryes to discharge pus and or matte together. She should definitely wash all pillows and pillow cases and anything that was touched. She should be incredibly cautious with washing hands and her little girls hands. It is very possible that she could catch it. However, Hopefully her little girl gets better fast and she does not catch it.

My brother had it once and I never saw my mo disinfect the entire house the way she did once she found out. Thankfully no one else caught it from him probably because my mom was constantly following him around with a wash clothing forcing him to wash his hands. A note does need to be sent home. Everyone in the house should be monitored, everything wiped down, no face touching and hand washing should be a high priority. I think all the bed linens need to be wash too with this one.

She should let the school know, I don't think its that big of a deal though. You get some antibiotics and that gets it to clear up. Thats all I know, I don't know if it can be serious or not. I do know that it is contagious.

Pinkeye's medical name is conjunctivitis. ie inflammation of the conjuncta of the eye. Mucous membrane of the inner eye and eyeball. The disorder can be caused either by bacteria or virus. Symptoms include watery, itchy, redden eyes. I know from personal experience. Yes it is contagious. I can guarantee personally.

There are several different types of "pink eye" and depending on which type would mean the difference in how contagious it is. Do you know which type it is?

I would definitely notify the school since it is contagious. I remember when my girls were in grade school there was an epidemic of it and soooooo many kids got it. Tell your friend (and her daughter) to make sure they washes her hands frequently! Here's a weblink to a kids health site on conjunctivitis (aka: Pinkeye) Be sure and read it so your daughter can understand how it's passed along from one person to another: http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/eye/conjunctivitis.html

Pink Eye is very contagious. I have worked in the health care field and caught it more times than I'd like to remember. My eyes are very sensitive as it is and having Pink Eye can render me completely miserable. Once I had it and my eyes just kept itching, it was running me crazy. There are a lt of ways to catch it, but one of the most common is sharing make-up with an infected person. The mom should not only contact the school, but she should keep her daughter home until she is cleared to go back to school. My doctor has always treated mine with eye drops. When I was little, my mother used a pretty blue eye cup.

Yes, I'm familiar with Pink Eye, and it is contagious, but with proper anti-biotic, and proper precautions, you can keep from catching it! Yes, she should notify the school, because she may have caught it from someone up there, which is highly likely, and they need to take precautions, to keep it contained!

I have 4 kids and they all had pink eye more then once. It is very contagious. I live in NY and they are not allowed in school with it. My son was home for 3 weeks with pink eye. Its not a fun thing to have. It comes from dirty hands, dirt in the air. You always have to wash your hands, don't let anyone else use your wash cloth or towel. Change bed linens everyday, especially pillow cases.

its possible to get it from the other kids. they are always in close contact with one another. i think the only way for a child to avoid getting it that they are educated about pink eye. They should avoid being around people who do. They should constantly was their hands. the very thing that the infected child touched, your child may have touched also. i also know when a person get the pink eye. the person's eyes itch consistantly, the eyes get stuck together. the eyes will drain so u have to keep a napkin on hand to wipe your eyes. If your eyes inch, you can always use eye drop to decrease the discomfort to help make it easier. the eye color will have a pinkish color. A person should keep everything around him or her disinfected to decrease the chances of ever getting it again. Also a person will get antibiotics to treat it, in a week or two depending on the doctors advice. The eye will be back to normal. i know i have had it. it wasn't pretty. i knew i had because my eyes started to inch all the time, the color in my eyes wasn't like it should have been. i did these things which i have mentioned above. i was doing good again. hope this help, have a good.
