Gold Plated Ornaments

Have you ever worn gold plated jewellery? Do you own any and do you like it? I know gold plated jewellery has its own uses. Its convenient for daily use and is cheap too, so no major heart-break if it gets lost or stolen. But I do not like gold-plated ornaments. I feel that wearing one is like projecting a false image of something to the world, something that I am actually not. Suppose I am wearing a very expensive gold plated ornament to a party. People will think that I am affluent enough to be able to afford it while in reality the truth is far from it. I feel very phoney wearing plated stuff. What about you?

Same as you, I don't like wearing plated jewellery. In fact I dont have any because of the same reasons you gave above. If you were plated ornaments to a party where most people know you and your financial ability they might make wrong conclusions like, hey i think she is pulling a doze with a rich old man or I think she stole it from somewhere" such like comments can taint your name. I prefer those plastic and colourful ornaments to match with the clothes I wear to coated ones. Thanks for bringing this up.

yeah, it seems both of us have a lot in common. Even I used to wear loads of the plastic and semi-precious types in my adoloscence and early youth. I used to colour-coordinate a lot of funky stuff with my clothes. However, at 35 these just doesn’t look good on me anymore. so i am back to wearing plain gold rings and little else.

Yes, for me at 25 I still fancy them. I like the colour co-ordination and they are very cheap, you can get a bungle for less than a dollar and with 3 dollars you are fully dressed with bungles and necklases. For me the only thing I have which is pure gold is my engagement ring. I cannot afford many gold jewellery.

Sad to say I can't wear gold plated, my skin is too acidic. They loose it's color in just a short while. So I just wear semiprecious stones if not the real ones.

i don't own any gold-plated ornaments or accessories. i don't like glittering gold accessories. but i do have a gold ring and gold earrings and both are real. they were given to me by my mother. and they don't really glitter. i wear the ring everyday and i only take it off when i'm taking a bath. i seldom wear the gold earrings. except from these two, all my accessories are silver. from earrings to bracelets to watches. and even necklace. everything is silver. i prefer it than gold. probably because of the same thing that you said. people will think i'm rich when in fact i am not. ans somehow, i view gold as color for old people. ^__^;; because the people that i usually see wearing gold are old.
