A friend of mine opened a discussion which started me to thinking about the words "ignorant" Dummie"and Stupid"...I feel that being ignorant of issues are ok, that only means that you are unlearned..It does not make you a Dummie, and it does not make you stupid....I have been ignorant of many things in my life, but it was because i had no experience in that area of life...I would like to know how many of my friends knows the difference between being ignorant or being stupid????To me being stupid is to know something and yet refuse to accept it and do it anyway, even after you have been taught..Or it could be just a state of denial as well...What are your thoughts on these negitive words??????? what do you feel is stupid? and should we call ourseves stupid or a dummie if we just do not know?

I do agree with your comments. I am in no way stupid or a dummy. I am ignorant of some things, only because its something that I don't know. I have a cousin who has downs syndrome, she is in no way stupid. She is however mentally retarted. But that doesn't mean she is stupid or a dummy. I don't think we should call ourselves negative names or anyone else negative names. There is always going to be something that someone else knows or does better then we do. That doesn't mean that we are dumb or stupid, it also doesn't mean that the person is so much smarter then we are.

I would not like someone calling me stupid or a dummy. They are not only saying that I do not know much more than a hill of beans, they are insulting me. Being ignorant, on the other hand implies that you do not know about a certain subject or your knowledge is not good enough. Being stupid is refusing to learn or to improve oneself and be content to be in that position like people who saw Christopher Columbus return and still believe the earth was flat or people when archeologists find proof that Hezekiah existed and refuse to believe that he was King of Judea.

agree with you on what ignorant is. to me being stupid is educated people who dont show there education and they show no commom since. where as some uneducted people act smarter and show more common since then people that are well educated. the bad thing is theres no cure for stupid

hi ma'am initially i thought, was it mee...... but i think it isn't me,lol.i think stupid is someone if i knew something and i did it because simply didn't care abt it or bothered about the execution and result of my act then i'm absolutely stupid.but i did because i think it is right but actually i wasn't well aware of the facts and thats why i commited mistake. i do call myself stupid and use other hard words for myself because it is easy to say bad things abt urself insted of hearing it from others and when people see okk u urself are saying they don't even say all these things and sometime they sympathise with u.

I once corrected my supervisor when she was running herself down by calling herself ignorant. I said that there was nothing wrong with being ignorant, that just indicated that you don't know something - yet. I also agree that being stupid is to learn/know something and refusing to accept/act on the info. It is also used to indicate that the person is incapable of learning the information, so there is stupid and willfully stupid. Someone who can't learn the info & someone who won't accept/act on the info. I am ignorate of many things, but I am not stupid. Now I may chose to not act on something, but if I do, then I've probably decided that to do so would be bad for me so I'm trying to make an educated decission. I don't try to tell others that when they decided to do opposite of me (unless its illegal) that they are wrong, it just isn't right for ME.
