There are many occasions when we go out with just one person. That person can be our family member, friend or partner. When you go out with one person, do you usually walk on the Left or the Right of that person?
For my case, I prefer standing on the Right side of that person. The reason is simple. I carry my bag on my Right shoulder and to avoid my bag hitting him/her, it's good for me to stand on his Right side.
How about you? Do you prefer walking on the Left side or on the Right side of that person? Why?

No matter walking with who, i will always be on the more dangerous side de.. hehe =D Or if not, i will choose to walk at the side whereby there isn't much ple because i'm quite a fast walker and so u know la, dun wanna ple to block my way.. So at times, i will tend to squeeze between small spaces or even go out of my walking lane.. hehe =P

I prefer to walk on the right side also. It just feels more comfortable to me. If I am walking with my husband, I walk on his right side because I don't like crowds and he will be closer to the line of other walkers than I would be. I would be on hte outer edge.

It depends for me, since I'm a guy. If we're walking on sidewalks, I prefer her to be on the safest side of the street. Either left or right, as I am the one that should be near the danger side!;)
She can also hold her bag on either her left or right arm, or I could be the one holding it for her just to make sure it's on the safe hands!;)

I always ended up on the right side if I am walking with my wife. However, if we were walking by the road side, I will be walking on the outer side and she will be on the in side. I feel that it is my responsibility to ensure her safety while walking. LOL!

Wow, what a gentleman! Seems that this wonderful attitude has gone by the wayside in our society. Kudos for the few of you that are left! My hubbby does the same for me!

Hi,there,
I would like to walking on either side of the road..however,most of the time I would like to walk on the right side of the road as there is a rule in china that is to walk or ride on the right side of the road..so I formed that kind of habit..
Have a nice day..

It is not that what we want ... and by which side we walk, actually we have to follow the rules.
When we are going then we have to stick to left hand side and when we are coming back then right hand side.
There may be some change in this rule from country to country.

I dont' really have a preference. However, I do tend to put my purse on my left shoulder, so I suppose it would be more comfortable for hubby if I was on his left so that my purse didn't bang into him with each step! I have never really thought about it before. I do think that it is nice when he places me on his right side when we are on a road or around vehicles to protect me.

This is a good question, shui tong!
I did note this myself too.
Sometimes it is the right and sometimes it is the left. The preference usually sticks for a substantial period.

I prefer and even insist on walking on a person's left side because I don't hear out of my left ear.
So if the other person insists on me walking on the right, we just won't talk much :)

This is a great one. My older sister is adamant that someone walk on her left side for reasons even unknown to her.
For me its slightly different-I have mild CP that afftect my left side with limping, lack of use with my hand, etc-and it causes me to be blind in my right eye and partially deaf in both ears. If I need to hold my children's hands, etc-I definitely need to be on the left to hold on. If my husband wants to hold hands-again I need to be on the left-well, not need but prefer. My daughter walks kind of in a wandering pace (she's 13) so I try to keep to the right of her-as I do with most other people.
When I sit with people I like to be on their left with no one next to me.

your question really got me thinking. I can't remember it ever mattering with anyone but my husband. I always walk on his right side. I also ride in the car to his right, sleep to his right,etc..hmm..wonder if there is something to this. the only exeption is eating at the table because im left handed and if im on his right the elbow fights can get pretty ugly LOL.

I always walk to the right side of the person so that I face the road side and he is on the side walk side especially in the case of children to make sure of their safety.Do you know that I always stop my car and ask the jay walkers to keep the child on the safe side.

I usually walk on the right side of the side walk. When I am with my son I walk on the left side so he is furthest away from the road.

actually it depends... i usually take the side in which the road is, that means if we are walking through the right side of the road i prefer to take the left side of the person walking with me (now i remember myself switching places subconsciously)and if we are walking through the left site of the road i'll automatically switch to the right side of that person. This is mainly the case if the person walking with me is shorter than me and if i feel that i'm the one who is more active. I think the person walking on the outer side has more control and the person walking through the inner side has to follow the line set by the other person.
