You can try gargling saltwater. If you are up to it, try a hot beverage (unless the throats feeling too painful. You can also try honey and milk or just honey. That one isn't as helpful, but its still an option to try. Vinegar might help too. If you are feeling phlegm/remnant in the throat, be sure to expunge it when you can; do not strain yourself though.

A hot Toddy with lots of lemon and Honey always helps. If you don't do that kind of thing then lemon and honey alone are great! Hot tea with lemon and honey is good too. I hope you feel better soon! Shalom~Adoniah

Do you have any baby oil to put in your ears? Just warm it up by putting the bottle in a cup of hot water, and then pour a little in your ears, with your head tilted to one side. Put a piece of cotton in your ear to seal it, and lay that way for just a little while.

I thought you were the Jack of all Trades. You know, the MacGyver of the female sort. Shouldn't you be equipped with baby oil, bananas, corn husks, and duct tape? : )

Gargle with warm salt water. Drink tea with Lemon and honey. Get some of those Halls cough drops with the liquid in the center. They work very well for me. You might even want to try all of these. Night Quil and Day Quil also help with the symptoms. The main thing is to get plenty of rest and put in as much Mylot time as possible, he, he. Hope you feel better soon.

Well I see everyone has already told you what I would say, so all I can say now is I hope you are feeling better. If not, you may want to consider seeing a doctor in case it is strep throat, because then you would need antibiotics..

Oh my poor little Terry Sugarplum.....I'm so sorry you're sick! I see many people have recommended salt water which is ideal for sore throats. I have also gargled with Peroxide..half water, half Peroxide. It definitely kills bacteria but DON'T SWALLOW IT, please, if you do this. It has worked for me plenty of times with a bad sore throat. There are directions on the bottle. As for your ears, if you don't have "high blood pressure", you may want to try a "Decongestant" to help keep them open, such as Sudafed. Please read the package if you've never taken them. Your ears are blocking up because of your sore throat, and your glands are probably swollen. You might want to go to the doctor if this doesn't clear up some in about 2-3 days hon. I feel so sorry for you,...I really hope it doesn't last too long and you get better really soon....xxxooo.

Dickushickus..."Hydrogen Peroxide" has been used for years as a gargle for sore throats, it's on the back of the bottle under Directions. I've been using it and I'm still here, so I guess the God's don't want me. Terry, hope you're feeling better and Thank You for BR. If you are not sure about the Hydrogen Peroxide, ask your Dr. or Pharmacist about it and he'll inform you. I hope your hubby doesn't get sick again too.....I'll send you some healing vibes!

I am not sure if you will be able to get it from a pharmacy, but here in the UK for sore throats I use a very strong and potent throat spray called Ultra Chloraseptic it works a treat, you spray it at the back of your throat three times up to 8 times a day, it numbs the soreness and eases it a treat. I also have a hot toddy which burns the germs away. I usually add whisky or rum to coffee. I hope you get better soon my dear friend.

well TerryZ I have had a week of it and the best remedy i have is an old fashioned one. I put some lemon juice in a big bowl of water, some mint sprigs too. Boil it up then sit with my head over the bowl and under a towel. Breathing in the steam works wonders for me blessed be

terry the only thing I can tell you with out going to the DR. is Tylenol and gargle with warm salt water. There are some over the counter throat sprays that numb it for awhile. I am so sorry you are not feeling well. I just got well from a particularly nasty cold.

the hot salt water gargle helps to disinfect and heal a sore throat, though I am not sure how soothing it is. I like to spray some of that chloroseptic stuff back on my throat - but usually it is my tongue that gets numb instead, hehe. My husband likes tea with honey to coat his throat - but it sounds like you have a severe soreness... are there any blisters back there? have you had your tonsils removed, if not are they inflamed? if it persists I would go get a swab done to be tested for strep... strep can travel and poison your blood...

You can try to gargle with salt water. Make homemade chicken soup. My mother-in-law always use to say that's a cureall. She was right. I would call my doctor and have him prescribe something. Are you feeling any better today?

Take ½ glass of warm water and dissolve one tablet of ibuprophen if you have it handy. Slowly you can gargle your throat with this solution. Chamomile can help too.

Joshanda is centuries old herbal tea for flu, cough, cold, catarrh, irritation of throat and fever. It is available in instantly dissolvable form. You can mix it in a cup of hot water or hot tea and sip lowly. Use thrice a day. If your throat is infected with onions, then you should use antibiotics after consultation of medical experts.

i'm so sorry about your throat. warm salt water gargle is a very effective remedy. peppercorns are very effective in giving relief. Boil a few crushed peppercorns with a few slices of fresh ginger in a cup of water and sip it hot. It will give you relief. you may add a tsp of honey to it for added effect.
