I am really sick of this eternal dandruff problem. It has been going on for some time now, and i just can't seem to get rid of it. Some tell me it is due to the dry weather, others say it is because of a dry scalp.. whatever the reason is, the fact is that i am totally fed up. Anti-dandruff shampoos are really not effective, and it has been an utter waste of money and time. I still do the hot oil treatment... but to no avail. The most terrifying part is that my son too has got it now. He keeps complaining that his head is itching. I am at a loss as to how to tackle this problem. If anyone has come across an effective solution, do tell me about it.

Dandruff - A pain!
I faced this problem and thought it was dandruff all along...but it was the water. Whenever I go to Kerala (tha't s where I am from), I didn't have the problem...but a couple of days after getting to Bangalore (that's where I stay), it would start again. It itches mostly when it is hot and sweaty. There was an ayurveda treatment at Trivandrum that I went to and it really helped....the only problem is that I didn't have the time to continue in Bangalore. They said if I did it for 3 months at a stretch, it would clear up. Methi seeds never worked for me and the curds gave me a cold. I'm allergic to lemon...I've hear that it is good. Massage the juice and let it stay before you wash away.

hey.. didn't know you were from kerala.. thought you were a tamilian. don't know why... i am not in a position to go for ayurvedic treatments. sometime back, one of my friends told me that applying lemon juice on head causes grey hair. i don't know if it is true, but it has left a negative impression in my mind.

Oh are you from Kerala too?? I haven't heard about lemon greying hair....but I wouldn't be the right person to say that coz I've never really tried it.

Try Neutragena T-Gel Shampoo, that worked for me and its pretty good. You just have to keep your scalp moisturized without having the oils dry it out.

My suggestion would be to apply a few drops of jojoba oil to the scalp now and then. Also, when you shampoo, use a shampoo and conditioner that contain jojoba oil. Those are things that you could get at a Whole Foods or similar store.

why dont you go to doctor tocheck what is wrong with your scalp. It could be allergic reaction from your shampoo. Try to wash your hair everyday with anti dandruff, you will see the result within 2 weeks. Do you have pets at home, could be lice too.. Allergic is a possibility.
