I'm from the "old school" of tuning, but I'm willing to try any new kind of technology, if I think it would be worth it!

i assume when you refer to the self-tuning technology, it is an electronic circuit that will change the frequency of each string to the proper tuning, even if it's out of tune..? in this case, yes, i would love something like that. it would make performances a lot easier to coordinate, in that guitarists would not need to invest as much in guitar techs or switching guitars in between songs using different tunings. the only question i have is, how will this technology react to guitars that change pitch intentionally using a floating bridge??

Yes,something like that, but actually what i mean is more to "powertune" from tronical. But,i don't understand with "floating bridge",is this some kind like tremolo at ibanez guitars(i.e: JEM or RG Tremolo Series)?,well, maybe this tool needs some more feature so it will suitable with "floating bridge"

I would prefer the conventional way, even those great guitar Gods wouldn't rely on that gadget. I believe those were just made for stubborn musicians or either those pretentious musicians, they will do you no good. It would be a slap if musicians would consider that gadget or whatever it is, it is not meant for music but to make other's look like grade school students!

i guess you are aiming on gibson robot.. or fender vg strat.. well, imho i think that it can help you to tune your guitar faster.. especially if you need to switch from standard to dropped tuning.. it`s pretty embaressing when you leave your fans waiting until you tune your guitar.. and remember, selftuning is good, but it wont improve your playing..

While it might be good for the beginning guitarist, I think that it might be a pain for those that like to tune up or down a step for some songs. I love my guitar, I've been playing Ovation guitars for years, and the old ones, you could plug in a tuner and get them tuned yourself, the new ones, like the one I have now, have a built in tuner and it tells you if you're sharp or flat.. you can adjust your strings yourself, and best of all, it lets you know where you are at if you're trying to tune up or down a key.

wow,it looks like you have a cool guitar, but what happen when you play whammy bar?

Well, mine is an electric/acoustic, so there is no whammy bar. The thing I love about the super shallow electic/acoustic Ovation is the sound you get. If you want to check out some cool stuff and sounds you can get out of one, Matt Smith is awesome. I went to one of his workshops and he played every Ovation guitar in the place. (It was put on by Dietz music, where I get all of my music supplies.) He can get the same sound as a whammy bar from a finger slide. His website is www.mattsmithsworld.com he's totally self taught and he's awesome and has a bunch of valuable info to pass on.
