On 1/29/2008 Florida will hold it's Primary election to determine the next REPUBLICAN president of the United States. Yes, there is a vote for Democrats to but the DNC (Democratic National Comittee) will not count the votes because Florida moved up its voting date from Super Tuesday (2/5/2008) to 1/29. In essense if you live in the state of Florida and vote tomorrow it is all for naught. They won't count. Is this how a democracy where every voice should be heard should work?Weigh in on the subject!

Almost all of the primaries and caucus' have been flawed in some way or another. This is just yet another. In New Hampshire, candidates would have say, 10,000 votes when a few precincts had reported, then have only 5,000 votes when the entire state reported in. Where, exactly, did those votes go?

We had electronic machines for our local voting process, and we got receipts. However, we had to hand those over to the poll workers, but at least there was some paper documentation of our votes.

I would have to really just take a stab at that and say they are guessing this is what the turnout is going to be and so this is the amount of votes there should be. I just voted today in Florida and it was electronic. One thing I would like to have is a receipt. Push the vote button and wait for your receipt. If there is a problem then pull out your receipt... just like having to take something back to the store... need a receipt. Seems such a simple idea really.

I think our election process is very flawed! The votes in Florida, as with the vote in Michigan a few weeks ago, won't count for the Democratic candidates because these states moved up their election dates. I had posted here a few months ago about why it is Iowa and New Hampshire have to have their primaries first and OK, I'll accept these two states keeping up such a long-held tradition. But, now the so-called "Super Tuesday" states, now a.k.a. "Super-Duper and Tsumani Tuesday" states think they're protected under some sacred law as well? I'm all for a National Primary Election Day, just as we all vote on the same day in the General Election. Then and only then will we all have an equal voice in this process! Unfortunately, it's not going to happen for this, possibly the most important election in any of our lifetimes! Annie

Here here I'm all with that. By far the US has the most complicated and the longest (BY FAR) election process in the World.

It just makes me glad to be a republican. I can't believe the Democratic candidates are so stupid as to disenfranchise their own party in Florida. This is the same party that argued for upwards of 5 recounts in Florida back in 2000 under the banner that "Every vote should count". They've not only turned off a lot of Democrats, but they've also guaranteed that moderate voters like myself will not vote democrat. I was actually going to vote for Obama before he openly declared that Florida doesn't matter. Now I'm sticking with McCain. I really feel bad for the honest Democrats who wanted their vote to count.

I really don't understand it. It seems like shooting yourself in the foot.
