How do you scan your 12" x 12" layouts?

I used to go to Recollections where I could scan my 12 x 12 layouts for free. Unfortunately they are closing down, in fact I would be surprised if they are still open. Do you know of any place that will scan 12 x 12 without it being too expensive? I know there is a way to scan 1/2 a page at a time and the "sew" the pages together in Photoshop, but the directions I once read for doing that was too confusing. In short how/where do you scan your 12 x 12 layouts?

If you are still looking for a solution. I can scan your 12x12 pages for $3 per page. I am in Orange County California. Maybe I can help!

I use a flat bed scanner that is 12x18 - it can accommodate an entire page from a 12x12 scrapbook. I can produce a 300 or 600 dpi digital image! Very nice way to preserve and share a;; the hard work you put into your traditional scrapbooks!!

Hi, Suki! I haven't done it... but there was a recommendation for scanning and copies to enter into contests... Apparently, Fed-Ex/Kinko's charges a small fortune for 12x12's. The recommendation from the Judge's Panel at a Scrapbook Expo is to shrink it all by one inch. This makes it $2.00, instead of $10. If you are doing a whole bunch, the would be a large fortune you would be saving. I usually just take pictures... lol! Good luck and happy scrapping!

I heard it was expensive - $10 a page would be way too much for a 40 page scrapbook. Thank you for the tip of reducing the area, I would not have thought that was an option. I've just been taking photos too. lol

Hmm I do not know of any places. I never scan any of my layouts so I don't really have a use for this. Good luck though!

Thanks for stopping by. I scan pages of scrapbooks I have done for other people so I can have a copy that it is my work. Sometimes other people want copies of the scrapbook and I just give them a digital copy for them to take to print. I also share ideas with people online.
