I guess some could call me petty but I just cant stand it when people fold down the corners to a page in a book. For some reason this just bugs the crap outa me. I always use a book mark. Does this bother anyone else?

If it is my own book I will occasionally turn down the corners. If it is a library book or a friends book I always use a book mark. It really doesn't matter to me what other people do.

It was drilled into me to never ever abuse a book while I was growing up. And you never ever bent the corner to mark your place. I was taught to use a book mark, even if it's just a piece of paper that was lying around. No paper clips either because that could mark the book. So, it's been ingrained - no folding corners for me. I think my mom made me a bit obessive about that! lol

This is one of the reasons why I don't lend my books to friends that don't really know me. I take a lot of care with the books that I have, because they are expensive and it takes time for you to choose the book. Getting books off the shelf isn't like shopping for a pair of shoes. The reason why people invented bookmarkers is so that you don't have to crease or fold that page just to mark where you left off.

It doesn't necessarily bother me, but it's not something I do. I use a bookmark as well. I think that is just easier. Then my pages aren't bent, which makes the book nicer as well. :)

I don't turn down the pages in my books. I use a bookmark or a piece of paper or a tissue or something. I like my books to stay nice and I think that turning down the pages makes them not as nice. Most of my books still look like they have never been read.

This also bugs me becasue no after u go trough a nook of someone doing this the fold will stay there. You will literelly have to go page to page and unfold this. But then when u pick up the book it could go back. I can begin to tell you how many books ive borrowed from the libraray with this. This defintly tops my lists of pet peves.

That is a BIG peeve of mine as well. Even with magazines or what the case may be that I am reading... when I am done with books I will give them to family to read and I get the same response over and over... sheesh the BINDING isn't even broken... I am just very careful when I read.

Well, I don't mind if it isn't my book they're folding. But if it was mine, yes, I would mind. I don't like my books with folded corners. I have the habit of straightening out each page before I even start reading a book. Some people do have this habit of folding the corners instead of getting up to get a bookmark. I get irritated when I find my own books with crumpled pages and folded corners.

Yup, I agree. Turning the corners of a book to mark the last page read really irritates me. I am always carefull with the pages of the book that I read and I have a collection of book marks for my use or when I cannot find one, I improvise and use candy wrappers or a sheet of paper, anything but folding the corners of a page!

That bugs the crap out of me too! I always unbend them and try to get them as straight as I can. What's also really annoying is when the pages are folded, and when you close the book, it makes the book a little thicker. I don't use bookmarks, though- usually I lose them before I finish reading the book. :P
