Which pet do you consider the better one, a dog or a cat?

In my personal opinion I think that dogs can be better pets in certain situations but in other situations cats can be...and I will explain...like whenever you go on vacation or something and you can't take animals its better to have cats because if your cats are anything like mine they really don't care who's there with them as long as they have something to lay on and something to eat nad drink but dogs are differnet because they need attention but a dog is much easier as far as the bathroom goes because no litter pans!

For me a cat, when I was little I always had dogs but now that I am older I always have a cat, I love all animals but i think a cat suits me better, they are more independent and there is no walking them and picking up the poopseys... ahahahahahh

Yeah, but don't they scratch up your furniture and pee on stuff to mark their territory?

very hard to answer this. because every animal has their strenght. Dog = smart animal vs cat = funny animal But if i given to choose i'd like to choose cat.

I have both for pets. I have a rottie/shepard cross dog who I have to put down soon and its breaking my heart. I also have 2 cats. I dont think I really favor one over the other. I'd have to say they each have their own reasons to be a good pet. My dog protects us, so I'm not worried about intruders lol. But cats seem alot more loveable, less maintence, and they are generally less of a pain.

very good insite because i have never had both, and generally thought that they could not get alone with each other.

I would say the more playful one, Which I think is the cat. Although if you play and train your dog from a young age then it could turn out to be a very playful too. I have always been a dog person but cats are more active... I really wouldn't know which one to choose.

good comment but I always thought the dog was more playful and the cats just like to rub up against you all the time, no running, jumping and playing.

I think that the best animal for a pet depends on what kind of person you are and where you live. A cat doesn't need as much space as a dog does and that depends on the size of the dog. I like a cat better because they don't demand or need as much attention as a dog does. Dogs are more loyal but have to be exercised and take more training than a cat. Show a cat where the litter box is and that's it. A dog take longer and has to be taken out side. Then when you take the dog for a walk you should take something to take care of the dogs elimination. No one wants that left in their yard. Cats are much more entertaining I think.

I like cats, duh You don't have to walk them, or put them out. You can put food down for them for the weekend & they won't be able to eat it all in the first 10 minutes.

I think this totally depends on your lifestyle. Dogs tend to be more portable, or more easily portable than cats!

For me, the better pet is always a dog. Cats are for my taste too independent. I like a pet that needs me and wants to be with me, and dogs always fit that description better than a cat would.
