Hello HersheysKiss I would say that we are all born with different characteristics and if we try to cover them up or hide them, we are just deceiving ourselves. Whether someone is gay or bi or a cross dresser or something else is not by choice. Everyone is just what they are and the world needs to accept it. Just my two cents anyway! Take care, Terry

Thank you Terry, I think you have made a valid point and really the most valid of them all. Just that the world needs to accept each person as they are. Love one another as you would love yourself, if you love yourself.

I am not gay I am straight but from what I have been told and from what I believe I don't think that you just wake up one morning and say...hey I think I want to be gay today....I think you are just born that way..maybe it takes some people more time to realize that they are or maybe it takes some people longer to actually admit to themselfs that they are but I really do think that you are born that way because I think that if everyone had that choice no one would be gay because gay people still get alot of grief about it!

No, it's not a choice. A person doesn't choose who he or she is attracted to anymore than they choose what eye color they have or whether they are left or right handed.

Yes, I believe it is a choice whether or not someone is gay. But I never judge people by these kinds of choices. I respect their choice. I'm not sure what else I can say on this subject =P hehe.

At first I thought it was a choice, but then I started to think maybe not because I have seen little boys mostly that were showing signs of it when they were small and now they are grown up and low and behold they are gay, so now I really don't know.

Why would you say it's a choice? People don't choose who they are attracted to.

Homosexuality iS a gender preference issue, therefore it is a choice that people make. Though some says that it is not a hoice for they were born into it, I still belive that they have a choice whether they would become a recognized lesbian or straight female or gays or straight male.

So Chrysz, are u saying that they should lie to themselves and others just to please the world around them?

But if the only choice is whether or not to admit that you are gay, how can you say that being gay is a choice??

I didn't say that. Aren't some gays remain in the closet because their family can't accept it or they are afraid their family can't take it? Some gays who acts like female even when young are easier to accept and they are accepted right away by the society but there are instances when a gay person doesn't wanna come out because he is considering other people may say.

No it isnt a choice, did you decide who you fell in love with, did you decide what person you was attracted to, I would say the answer to these would be NO, by the same token gay people dont choose it, it is simply in their genes and nothing people can ay or do will change this, it is extrememly bad to try to change that fact and many peoples lives have been destroyed by doing just that!

Thanks for the response and I totally agree with you on it not being a choice for some...then I think that some of the younger people are just doing it to get attention, too.

I am not gay, but i've had some gay friends in my lifetime, and i would say absolutely that it is NOT a choice. . WHY would someone CHOOSE to be made fun of, beat up, and named called all their lives ? I know this doesn't happen to every gay person, but it happens to a lot of people who are gay.. Just osmething to think about..

no, it's not. no more so than it's a choice to be left handed, which affects about the same proportion of the population.

Perhaps some people choose to be with one gender or the other, but I don't think the average person does. Do most hetero people wake up one day & 'realize' their straight or is that just something they've always known? Of course it's something they've always known, I'd have to assume it's the same for gay men & lesbian women. They have just always been attracted to the same gender.

Gays have the same choice in their sexuality that heterosexuals do in theirs - which is absolutely none. As a matter of fact, if you ask around enough you'll find that there are quite a few gays that, if they had a choice, they would've chosen to be straight.

I believe that being gay is not a choice, I think you're are born gay or straight or at least figure it out in the first few years of your life. I think that for some people it just takes a little bit longer to either act on their feelings or admit to themselves or others that they are in fact gay.
