Where Do You Start?

I have developed a bad habit of working from the top down when it comes to answering responses in my e-mail inbox. By doing this, I am answering the newer discussions first. If I don't do them all, then the older ones simply get older and sometimes it takes me days to get to them. How about you?

Hi Rozie37! haha..same here! I do the same thing which is why I have still a lot of old discussions that are in my e-mail box because I never were able to really get to finish them all. I hope I could get to answer all but I do only have little time sometimes so I just try to answer as many as I can. Take care and have a nice day! :)

Starting from the top for me just flows so much easier. It is hard for me to start from the bottom. I wish the older ones would remain on top, so I could get to them first.

When I open my emails I start by getting rid of the ones I do not want to open first. Then I open from the oldest ones frist and work my way up the page. I get to the oldest emails first that way.

Same here but when I find I am lagging, I leave the new ones and go back to the older discussions. I have a routine in the way I go about myLot. In the morning, I check the new discussions and delete the ones that do not interest me. Once that is done, I will get back to work on the discussions when my baby is asleep and I am done with all my housework. I will have a few new discussions then...I check those out first before I respond to the rest of the discussions that I have left in the inbox.

Oh okay, that sounds like a good idea. I know that I get frustrated when I see a lot of new discussions in my inbox, but then find that I can not respond to a lot of them for whatever reason.

lol..I know how that feels when I have hundreds of new discussions in my mail box...and I know that I won't respond to a majority of them. So, once I delete the ones I won't respond to, it doesn't look like a lot anymore....and I can manage the rest when I have no distractions.

I almost always start with the older discussions first. The ones at the end of my inbox, not at the beginning. For some strange reason I feel like I would be neglectful if I didn't pay attention to the ones that had been sitting there the longest. Occasionally I'll open up the newest one, but usually it is always the older discussions first.

This is what I want to start doing. But, it is hard. It just flows better when I start from the top.

I also sometimes do like you. I start from the top, but soon I realise that in the process older discussions and older mails get ignorned. So logically and reasonably, we should start from the bottom, so as not to miss important mails/notifications/discusssions.

It does not make any sense to repond to some of them too late. I end up having to skip those.

Because I fall so far behind some days with not answering any discussions, I start with the old emails I receive first and work my way to the new ones. I go through and answer all the ones that I can reply to easily and delete the ones I don't have a response for, and then work my way to the new ones. HOWEVER with that being said haha just over the last few days I couldn't be bothered going back to the third page of emails to answer the older discussions, so have only been answering the new discussions and working my back to the older ones LOL I still have two pages of mylot discussions to answer :(

haha Your discussions are usually the ones I look for and try to answer along with a few others first so no worries, I won't delete any of yours :)

Two pages? Oh believe me I do not envy you at all. I have never had that many at once. I think I would delete them all (accept of course yours) and start fresh, hehe. So make sure you don't delete any of MY old ones without answering them first, LOL.

I do the same thing. It is just easier to start at the beginning and work my way through it.

Well, I guess I will have to stick with my old plan since it seems to work the best for others too.

Just like you do, i browse from the top downwards. I answered what I found interesting. But by spending a lot of times sometimes, I can still browsed up to the oldest topics. And i still find time to answer them.

I did start from the top and work down, but found the same as you did, so now, I pick a spot closer to the bottom, knock them off and then select the next lot. I will get there in the end!

I always start from the older ones first and then work my way to the newer ones that way I get rid of the older ones first and I dont have to erase all of them to clear out my box, I would miss some great discussions that way.
