Shopping -- fun or drudgery?

When you go shopping, do you look forward to it? What motivates you to shop? Do you like windowshopping just to get out of the house? What's your favorite and least favorite kind of shopping? I find going to the grocery store is a real drudgery. However, when I'm out of things to eat, or out of my flavored coffee creamer, I go. How do you feel about crowds? Do you shop on the Internet? I have found that very convenient...as long as it's not clothing or shoes.

Thanks for the post, cher. Today I went yarn shopping even though I have a roomful of it at home. This subject belongs in another topic, but I charge a lot on credit cards because my funds are limited. I like garage sales! and thrift stores!

I totally detest shopping for things. Now grocery shopping is different for me. I take a list, that's what I buy, and I'm outta there. But going to the mall.... NO WAY!!! Dealing with the crowds, the rude people, trying to find the "bargain" that doesn't fit me... Nah, not for me. I know my sizes on the web sites that I buy from so if I see something I want or need, I get it on the web.

It just amazes me the number of people who don't like to shop. I'm thinking it must be a "women love to shop" stereotype. Thank you for commenting.

I like shopping. But I hate to be amongst the crowd. So I prefer weekday mornings for shopping where it is comparatively free.I do not buy any thing online except a couple of softwares for my pc.

I really don't mind shopping if I'm feeling well, but I do find superstore to be rather stressful at times but that's about the only place I can afford to shop for groceries.

Actually yes there is a wallmart in the city where I have to go shopping but they don't have a full line of groceries, but someone told me last week they bare going to expand and all kinds of grocery items will be sold. Good deal.

You've got a Wal-Mart in Canada??? If it's open 24/7 you can go when everybody else is asleep...just the shelf stockers are in the aisles, but that's better than people who think they're the only ones in the store. Yes! The prices are sure better. I can still say that even though groceries everywhere have gone up!

I love shopping for clothes, shoes, my baby's things... and even grocery... even window shopping works for me as long as i can go to the mall and enjoy my time with my baby (i always take my baby with me)... Shopping for me is a form of recreation where i can clear my mind of all my troubles... but i don't spend a lot of course... i only shop for clothes that are on sale... but sometimes...like once every two months... i indulge myself with a blouse or a pair of shoes... but never outside my monetary limit... But nowadays, everytime i shop it would always be something for my baby... i come in second now... the baby always comes first...

My "baby" is 43 now. When she was a baby, though, I worked right across the street from a nice upper-scale department store. There were sales, though, and my little girl had some nice clothes. unfortunately, she spit up on some of them and I couldn't get the stains out, oh well. Isn't it funny how your whole life changes after you're a mommy? *Smile*

I hate to shop. I go out the day after thanksgiving at 3 AM to get all the deals and do all my christmas shopping in one day. I go to the grocery store once a week to get everything I will need to make dinner for that week. I NEVER window shop. I will never just go out to look around at stuff. I hate crowds. I'm not a big fan of people in general. But I do what I got to do to get the job done. I tried shopping on the internet this year for Christmas. It wasn't bad but I refuse to pay shipping on something I can drive 10 miles to get. so unless the site is offering free shipping I won't buy it online.

Thank you! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who can't stand crowds. Yeah, shipping charges can really add to the price, making a bargain not so much of a bargain. You must be very well organized to get away with one trip to the grocery store in a week. I never know what I'm going to feel like eating from one day to the next.

Every sunday I get the newspaper to see what is on sale. Based on what is on sale I make my menu for the week and my shopping list. I didn't used to be this way but with 4 kids and so many activities even if I liked shopping i wouldn't have the time to run to the store every other day.

I love to shop most times. But only in person, not from TV. My favorite time to shop is Christnas. I LOVE buying gifts!

I find shopping for food in a supermarket boring. However I am a picky eater and go to the supermarket near my house most often but I also go to three other supermarkets in my local area and one in a town more than 10 miles away. I hate going on a Friday when it is very crowed and busy. I shop on the Internet a fair amount and quite enjoy this. It is usually for gifts for other people or something like school uniform for my son. When I travel overseas I enjoy searching for a costume doll to add to my collection. I find bargaining hard to do though.

First, I hate crowds. I hate grocery shopping, but I'm the one who does it every week, with kids. I think I would like shopping if I didn't have to worry about the price or spending too much money. I'm horrible about clothes, if I see something and love it, I should buy it no matter if it's on sale or not. Because I'll go the rest of the day without find another one I like but is more affordable. Sometimes shopping is fun when I'm searching for something and I know by the end of the day I will have bought it. But overall, I don't really enjoy shopping. Too many choices I think. Another reason i hate walmart. I'd rather shop online. It's easier to shop for specific items. I don't really like browseing online.

I like to shop. I like to grocery shop more than regular shopping like for clothes and such because I dont really have the money to spend on non essentials. I like if the items are on sale that makes it much more fun. I also like to go to dollar tree because I do not have to spend alot of money. Dollar Tree and Dollar General are rapidly becoming my favorite stores.

Me and my wife does the shopping together. Its actually a perfect team. She picks up the items and I pay. Well, actually, I really don't like to go in line along the counter since I really hate to stand on a long line. That is why we do the shopping on times that there are less people. I also do internet shopping but not on things like food or those for personal use but rather on things like equipments, handbooks that are not found in my country. I enjoy window shopping, since I like to see things and items, and also the walking gives me a chance to exercise.
