MyLot...Keeping It Private or Opening The Doors...

In several discussions lately ppl have remarked about whether the person I was referring to was a MyLot member or not. It made me start wondering if other ppl preferred to keep MyLot all to themselves in order to be able to talk openly or whether they had friends and family on here and just watched what they said.
My youngest brother, my Mom, my Hubby and my friend, Barb, from up North are all members of MyLot. Some things I don't talk about b/c they are personal and I don't want to hurt the feelings of some that are very sensitive but most of them, I tell them they are going to be a MyLot topic and I tell them just what I'm saying before it ever gets posted. I'm a firm believer in honesty is the best policy. I also tend to come to MyLot when I need to vent or when I'm looking for opinions to problems.
So what about you? Is MyLot your safe zone or is it an open forum for you and yours? Do you ever get into fights with friends or family members in real life over what you've posted on here? (I've seen that a few times LOL)

Mylot is mine so to speak. My hubby is not an interner "poster" he hates writing. I invited my sister, she joined, but that's as far as it went. I like having it that way. I like to feel free to open things up for discussion that I otherwise might not because of worrying about their feelings.

I don't have any friends or family here on mylot. To be honest none of them are interested in mylot because it doesn't pay well. I still however am careful what I write about in case somebody should come across my name.

I have a couple od family memebrs on here so i wou;d say that i would have to be careful what i say.....I bet your friend Bars sees your discussion about that phone call conc=versation you had with her,,,,,things like that i would want to keep private...Yes i do watch what i say sometimes...

None of my family is on this site. They are all on MySpace. They also know that as far as I am concerned they are fair game. However they also know that when I write on my blog or here about anything concerning them that I will be honest but not hurtful.I, too like to use this to express feelings or vent about issues that concern me. I like to get different opinions from people.I have never gotten into problems with my family for anything I say here.

Mylot seems to be my safe zone. I have referred others to mylot, but not many have taken me up on it. I was referred here from a good friend of mine. Glad I took her up on it that is for sure! Most often I use it as a sounding board for problems I am having, questions I have or anything else that I know I can get good honest answers. It is difficult to be open for myself if family was on here, I wouldn't be able to be as open and forthcoming with topics if they were.

Well, I have to admit that I haven't invited my daughter to join. There really is no reason except for she can be judgemental of me sometimes and I would really rather just be able to post without her being in the mix.

I have referred several friends and none of them seem to be interested, so I can pretty much say what I feel here. The few people I've referred either don't like spending a lot of time in front of a computer or are too busy with things like myspace.

None od mt family is on mylot , But It would'nt matter any way they know idf I have something to say to I will no matter where Iam at .

I keep Mylot mainly for myself also. I do not want to hurt to hurt others feelings either or want them to know my personal business and feelings. Some of my issues are with acquaintances and family and I do not want them to be hurt about how I feel in certain situations.

i only know a couple pweople on mylot a me personally i never like my real name to be used in a discussion and if i have something to say about someone that is a member i usually keep it between us or i talk about in the 3rd party sense keeping all names out of it including mine you usually end up getting feed back even from the person your having the problems with.

I have told my fiance about this site,because I tell him everything anyway...but as for everyone else, I would rather them not be members, not that I can stop them,but I won't refer them.I like having a place to go to get unbiased opinions.

I have no family members here,so I do not have that
problem.I can see it being a problem to the ones who
have families members on here.I think I would let them
know if I was posting something concerning them first.
So,I would know how they would react to it.

I know exactly what you mean. I havent invited any personal friends or family because then I couldn't talk freely. I did post the link once on Myspace and noone signed anyways when I had thought about what I did. I like being able to talk freely with non judgemental people. I try to get referrals though of anonymous people who wouldnt care either way.

No way.. even if I have friends and relatives online, I don make them friends here... This is a second life.. a whole nre network of friends.. a whole new set of relationships... This way I can talk whatever I want without any guilt and be whatever I'd like to. This helps me relish the feelings that I cannot in my real life... Happy myLotting...

I really don't know. I wonder about it though, because not only do I vent here sometimes, but I have my friggin pic right here! At the same time, if the shoe fits them.....maybe it could be a wake up call when you can say on here what you can't say in person.

None of my friends or family are very active here. I did post a discussion about a family member who later joined, but I do not think she ever read any discussions, I know she never posted anything. I still try not to write too much that I would not want to say outright.

I dont have any personal friends of family members here(that I know of) and I prefer to keep it that way. Not that I would say anything about them, but I do say things that I wouldnt care to share with them. I guess Mylot is my little escape from reality and I want to keep it that way.

I would have to say it depends on the subject. I don't want to go into detail about s-e-x but I'll talk a little about it. Or if someone in my life ticks me off in some way, I might start a discussion about it in hopes to get a feel of what I'm doing wrong or the other is doing wrong. But to give my bra size or my shoe size, the answer is "none of your business" LOL

I personaly keep my lot private
My hubby knows i post here but thats it - and even he doesnt ask me much about what i post or what not - its called trust - lol
So I dont like to let to many know im here hence not using my name just in case someone knows me lol
its sort of my journal here posting on interests and so on...
