Hi there, I have had the implanon implant in, for 2 months now, and at first i think it gave me mood swings, but I don't know if that was from lack of sleep (i have a new baby too) or from the hormones. But one thing that is bothering me is, i have been bleeding and spotting for about 8 weeks now! The longest i haven't bled for is two days! Is anyone else experiencing this? Or any other side effects? Does anyone have any opinions on implanon? I am currently in a trial study for women who bleed frequently with implanon. In march i should be getting a hysteroscopy done where they will take pictures of the lining of my uterus, and also take a sample. Then i will be given one of four treatments (one of them being a placebo, i hope i dont get that one!) and then they will be able to see if that helped with the bleeding or not. I'm a bit excited about all of this, because i want to stay on implanon, i just don't want to bleed anymore! I am afraid if i take it out, and go on the pill i will fall pregnant or something, and i am not ready for another baby! (If anyone is in Western Australia and wants to do the study, let me know and i'll give you the information)

I've had my implanon in for the full three years now, and am going to get it switched to a new one in the next few days. I love it. I do not think that I have had any side effects at all from it. I have put on a bit of weight, but my weight has always gone up and down all my life so it's a bit hard to say if that's got anything to do with the implanon. Can't wait to get it switched over because then I do not have to worry about birth control for another three years :-)

Wow, that's so different from me. I get my period once a month as normal, but it only lasts about 3 days. Before I got the implanon it used to last about a week. I don't get the mood swings at all. I guess I am just one of the lucky ones. It's a shame about your bleeding and mood swings. I really hope that everything settles down soon as it cannot be easy for you.

I have had mine in for two years now and absolutely love it too. I have been one of the lucky ones that has not had a period since the day it was implanted! Not having had a period for two years also has meant that I never get hormonal. It is bliss! I guess different people react differently to it. I am really forgetful so it is nice not to have to worry about remembering to take a pill or get an injection.

i have had mine in for 2 years and 7 months and the first years was great the second year was really bad and the third year has been hell. I have been bleeding nearly non stop. put on the pill which made me very sick and swollen and then yesterday i collapsed and banged my head really badly with suspected anemia from the blood loss. I am getting it out tuesday and just hope i get back to normal.
