Double Dipping--Bad! Bad! Bad!

Tell the truth! When you go to a party and they have dip, do you double dip? Go ahead..this is probably the only place you can tell the truth. Nobody will judge you, although some will roll eyes. Something you should know before you dunk that chip in the dip for a second time after you bit off the end, according to The Associated Press, there are 10,000 germs on double dip chips! "It is like putting your whole face in the right in the dip!" Look at it this way. You see that nasty-looking guy/lady in the corner over there? You just kissed him. As a matter of fact, you just kissed everyone in the room. Do yourself a favor. You like to double dip, and who doesn't? Here is the safe way to do it. Go to the store and buy your favorite dip along with your favorite chips. When you get home, lock the door. Break out the dip and chips and double dip all you want.

I personally have never done that nor have I been to a party where anyone did. Normally they have it set up buffet style with either small or large paper plates, so that everyone can put on their plate what they want, including the dip.

But when you are out of line and your back is turn...or you are talking to Aunt Martha, you really don't know if they double dipped.

Now you're going to make us all paranoid, lol. No more talking to Aunt Martha for me. I'll guard the dip bowl!

I can't eat other people's party food any more. I've seen too many bad habits, not just double dipping, but finger licking, and touching food without washing their hands first, etc. If I go to a party, I'll either say I just ate, or I'm on a diet. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but I'm not going to let myself get sick because of their poor hygienic practices.

Karen, I couldn't agree more. I feel the same way...and I try so hard not to eat it but not have it look obvious. It is like my little secret. I have OCD, and I hate germs!

What a joke! I can't believe anyone can care about this kind of thing! It's got to be good for the immune system... or simply just go to parties with healthy people lol. It's not the same as kissing, for kissing you'd need to feel the sensation of touching the gross person in question..this is more like getting coughed on with a bit of moisture. Anyway, I will keep on double dipping, even though I didn't have a name.

When you end up with a bacterial infection, you will know the value of those 10,000 germs.

This reminds of an episode of Seinfeld. When I go to parties they always have a plate we can put our dip on so I don't have to double dip. I wouldn't say though that I've never done it before. I can see myself doing something like that, esp. when I was younger and not thinking a thing about it.

I don't double dip at parties, but, at home with my own germs that's a different story. I don't like dip or food at parties anyhow, there are so many people who don't wash their hands after using the toilet, I avoid foods that come out of a common bowl. They have done tests on those mints in restaurants in bowls, you know, the unwrapped ones, well, they're covered in traces of fecal matter. EWWWW. When will people get the message to wash their hands???

I live in the USA. I hear that we are the greatest country. We have this and we have that, but in so many areas, we are missing the one thing that could heal a lot of problem issues. Commmon sense.

Oh I can't stand those who double dip. I have actually seen people with such poor social skills that they double dipped! If they only knew how many germs they were spreading. That is why I seldom get dip when I am at a party or get-together or buffet. Another thing I can't stand are those people who dip their finger in the dip or dressing to see if they like it!! GROSS!!

I haven't double dipped since I was at a cheesy Valentine's Day party in elementary school. I was made aware at a very young age about the land of Germville, and all those who inhabit it. So if I'm the first person to the dip, in it goes. But that's it. I'm not subjecting my germs to anyone else, and I would hope others would have the common sense to do the same. But they don't, lol.

I'll know because I'll be the one to bring the dip. And I'll pick one my sister doesn't like. Ha ha, that will get her back for years of meanness. : )

Amber, Amber, how do you know that you were the first person to the dip? Most likely, it was....your SISTER!

This is an A+++ discussion in my book. I will tell you the truth! No! Never! In fact, if I go to a party I don't touch the dips, not with my chips and not to my lips. Same thing with store samples. Some of those are gross! I'll accept a cookie (sometimes two!) from the local baker who keeps samples in a covered box out of the public's reach and picks them up with a square of deli wrap and hands them to me in the same, but otherwise....ewwwwww.

Sister, that is why you have talent! These things are important. I went to the bakery one day and said I will have a dozen of those cookies....and she took them out of the case with her h-a-n-d....I told her to do that one more time, and this time, use a glove...all is well!

I place dip on my plate and dip from there. I have a real problem sharing dip with others.

But before you did that, someone double-dipped. Go wash your mouth out with soap.

Pffft. Why would anyone want to double dip? Seriously, when I dip my chip, I DIP my chip. Like...you should worry less about double dipping and more about getting double the dip when I'm around.

I only really go to family and close friend parties. Every other type you got a small plate and you scooped some on and could double dip all you want. As for the family parties I'll dip one side take a bite and if there is enough left flip it over and dip the other end.

If I am at a place with a lot of people or people I don't know, I won't eat any dips. At a close friends house I will either put it on a plate or I turn the chip to the other side. At home I really don't care, the kids are not allowed to though.
