When The Beatles first toured Australia Ringo missed the start of the tour due to tonsilitis. 1) Who replaced him for the tour. (It is mentioned in the Hunter Davis official Beatles biography) 2) The harder part (not mentioned in the bio) is ... Which band was he from? :-)

1) Jimmy Nicol? 2) The Shubdubs? My husband has many Beatles books, etc. We're both big fans.

Jimmy Nicol is the correct answer. As for which band he was in at the time, it was not the Shubdubs..... :-) He was the drummer for Georgie Fame's backing band, The Blue Flames.

Hmmm, did a bit more research. I can remember back in the 70's reading a paragraph in an Australian magazine called RAM, short for Rock Australia Magazine, which specifically mentioned Jimmy Nicol, from Georgie Fames's Blue Flames, replacing Ringo for the tour. Having researched following your reply there seems to be some indication that, at the time, he was already in the Shubdubs.:-) I had never heard of them until reading your reply.
