Last night at a city counsel meeting in a St. Louis suburb there was a major shooting spree in the council chambers. I believe 5 or 6 are dead. Two were police officers. All the names haven't been released just yet. Seems the shooter was angry with the city police after receiving many tickets amounting to thousands over a one year period. He owned a small construction company. He carried a gun into the chambers and began shooting. Another police officer was able to shoot and kill the shooter. The link below is a brief article as the news conference hasn't been aired yet this morning. I am saddened by the fact that not only innocent lives were lost but the fact we lost 2 more police officers. They were all very innocent and this was a senseless killing spree. I pray for the families of the deceased. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/stlouiscitycounty/story/19AC2FC789C39B5D862573E9004991B2?OpenDocument

I missed this on the news somehow. And that's not the only shooting on the news right now. I have the tv on and there's a school shooting going on right now. The shooter was in a vocational school in Louisiana. Shot two students and then shot herself. And there was the school shooting in Ohio yesterday - a husband came to school and stabbed and shot the teacher - his wife. I feel like I'm collecting shooting stories! Thsi is troubling. Whit

It's all totally unbelievable. Everyone gets frustrated or gets angry but there has to be another alternative. Murdering is not the solution. I don't know the age of the shooter but he was married so it wasn't a kid. Can only assume this man was beyond his stress level and knew no other way to deal with his situation. Never taking into consideration the other lives he was about to take when he was angry with the police. He killed council people who had nothing to do with the police. Thanks for responding.

That is horrible! I wonder why some can't take responsibility for themselves. He must have been given tickets for something he was not changing.....they don't just do that. And for the innocent lives that he took! It is totally senseless!

Am sure it will be all over the news if it hasn't been already. It's just so sad. Evidently the shooter had been given parking tickets over and over again for parking his construction trucks on public streets. He didn't pay the tickets and was obviously angry. He's been harboring these feelings for the last 4-5 years and guess he exploded. My heart goes out to the families of those lost. Thanks for responding.

Well, you can tell I did not watch the news in the last 24 hours. I had not heard about it. The news here usually has St. Louis stuff that is big news like this. I just looked at a few different articles and one says 5 killed 1 injured and another few say 6 killed.

The Mayor of Kirkwood is struggling to stay alive. He's in ICU. Two are still in the hospital and one was released last night with a gunshot to the hand. How many police are we going to lose before this crap stops? I am just sick over it. Thanks for responding.

I live in England and have just heard this on our news, they didnt go into great detail but it seems like another senseless waste of life and now those families are going to be left to deal with it, their whole worlds will have been ripped apart, it is really really sad.

You are exactly right. We didn't know any of the deceased. How lives can be taken like this and the families all suffer is beyond me. There's a big memorial service at a local church today. Thanks for responding.
