Ugly Minnesota Winter Weather (again)

Well it was another nasty day today here in Minnesobrrrrr. (Saturday) We are currently under a winter weather advisory meaning blowing & drifting snow and cold temps. Then we are also under a windchill advisories. I went to the casino this morning and it took 3 times as long to drive there. The snow was falling hard and the winds were around 30 MPH as well. Visibility driving was less than a quarter of a mile. Now the temps have been falling all day quickly also. At 8 a.m. it was 23 degrres F. Now it is 0 degrees F. The winds have gotten stromnger and we've had gusts up to 45MPH. The temop will fall to 15 below zero tonight with high winds causing windchills of 35 to 55 below zero all night long. What is the weather like in your area? Strong winds? Terrible windchills? Snowing? Or are you in the tropics? Hee hee. Here's a shot of a clean drive with the snow blown into small mountains in various areas at my house. I love the looks of the snow when it is blown around like this.

You know it's funny. I happen to be a winter person, and don't mind cold weather as I find it invigorating, but yeesh, I think I'd go bonkers with the kind of weather you have there. As for my neck of the woods, this has been a very strange "winter" to say the least, I can never remember such a snowless winter..we had one day of a "dusting" of snow and that was it. Temperature wise it's been rather warm...why just the other day it was a tropical, muggy and humid near 70 degrees...yup, in NY! The temperature has cooled down considerably, but it still feels warmish, and it's boiling in the apt. here...our apt. building you can't regulate the heat coming up..so it feels like summer in my apt....and even have nearly all the windows open to get air inside here.

I also love the cold and snow actually. But enough is enough I say. I would love more snow and even temps at zero would be "cool". Hahaha!! But this wind is terrible tonight. It's supposed to be this windy till tomorrow afternoon also. Ughhhh! Glad ya got a taste of summer sort of also. HAHAHAHA! I am not ready for the 70's just yet. Not in Februaray please. Hahaha!! Thanks.

Any time you post about cold weather we have it in Chicago the very next day. I just look at weather forecast for tomorrow and...OMG, it is going to be only 4F and snow again....

Your weather is coming my way, yuck. In the 30's early today, down around 0 tonight and then snow, brrrrrrrr. This is what we call winter. I have a sister that lives in Florida. I talked to her yesturday, I made the mistake and asked her what she was doing. hehe. She was outside grilling some hamburgers while her hubby was cleaning the pool, I said we have snow on the ground, hehe. THINK SPRING!!!!

This has been well beyond WINTER as you call it. This has been a frozen HELL of sorts. Too mnay days this winter with the severe below zero temps and drastictly below zero windchills. Check out my newest discussion.

I live in Mississippi. Earlier this week it was near 80 degrees and tornadoes were all over the place. Today it was in the 50's sunny and pretty much like a spring day. We haven't had any snow in so long. I would love to see some...but maybe not as much as y'all have, lol

That was a shame with those tornadoes and deaths.
Wisconsin also had strange tornados recently as well.
I don't have a lot of snow here actually.

I don't understand what's going on this year. Even places in the US that normally don't get bad winters are this year and as far as where I'm from in Canada it's been nasty cold. Today it was -29c. It's supposed to warm up Wednesday. The wind has been horrible as well.

I checked out your photo (left a comment) & saw the snow blown mountains!
The weather here has been remarkably cool, very unusual for Februray.
It was 2 degrees celcuis on the day of my birthday. We were able to have a fire that night, which is almost unheard of at this time.

The piles of snow were even higher today as the winds were blowing most the day again today. So then next 20 degree above zero day I'll be back outh there cleaing the piles of snow. Thanks as usual also for the comment(s). I've had many a bonfire in the snow covered cold backyard. The cold doesn't stop a fire from burning. HAHAHAHA!!

The worse is the cold withput snow.

Well, not exactly the tropics here, but it was shirt sleeves weather, well for me anyway. It might've grazed 70ยบ, sunny & little to no wind.
The roomie & I drove down to South Austin to drop off our tax stuff for my brother to do our taxes and it was just wonderful.
THIS is what the weather should be like all the time!

Here in Central CA it is nice with the night of 66 today. I had the house opened up to air out. I love it. Not a cloud in the sky.
The problem with warm weather like this is the fog at night and in the morning. People tend to drive to fast in the fog and have horrible accidents. I have not heard the news to see if there was any over the weekend yet. I sure hope not.

My sister lives in the Scaremento area so I hear about her warm winter days. Ugghh! Hee hee hee. I want the cold and snow this time of the year. But as I've said before there is a time for it to end and that time is NOW! Hahahaha!! Thanks also for the response. Enjoy the fresh air.

I had to keep my coat on while I was in the casino. The area I was playing at was very near a door. Each time it opened there was a blast of the winter air.

I live in England and the weather here the last couple of days has been lovely, its been mild for the time of year and we have had a nice bit of sunshine all weekend. So far this year we have only had a smattering of snow, although we had some pretty strong winds a couple of weeks ago. I like to look at your picture of the snow, but Im pretty glad its not here I dont like it much!!!

Today it got all the way up to a warm 3 degrees F below zero. Yes below zero not above. But we did have some great warm feeling sunshine all day. Had the curtains, drapes, and blinds opened and it sure heated the house. Was still cold as heck outside though even with the sun. It just made it feel better was all to a point. Thanks and enjoy the nice weather across the pond.

Talk to the east coast. They've gotten the snow. All we have gotten in Minnesota is the 40 below windchills. I want snow as well here.

I live in Michigan and we got nasty cold weather here. today is supposed to a high of 6 with somewhat high winds. I think it's going to "warm up to 16 tomorrow. All week is going to be in the low twenties. I can't stand this. Bring on summer!

I was born and raised in Dearborn Heights MI. And I've lived in many cities such as Traverse City, Alpena, Iron River, Ypsilianti, Ann Arbor etc etc. Where is Waterford located?

AGB I really need to stop complaining about our weather here in Scotland! WE have had snow a couple of times this year but it only lasted for a couple of days once and was gone by afternoon the second time! We have had REALLY high winds a lot - up to 85 mph and the rain is almost constant. My kids are desperate for more snow but it just isn't happening! I guess we are lucky as my area is surrounded by three hill ranges which helps protect us from the worst of the weather conditions! Hugs xxxxx

Those hills will stop the winds from being so bad for you I'd say.
The winds are the wrost thing when it's this cold. Give me the snow but keep them 40 below zero windchills.

ouch! i live in southeastern Michigan and we do get the snow you do.
I used to live in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan .Soo, Mich. by the Canadian border town of Soo, Ontario and we got a lot of snow too...
the chill factor you mention is a fearful thing..i would not last long outside..
every year i hate the winter the worst..and now I am retired I do not drive if I don't have to but my two trucks have four wheel drive and that helps..good luck thans Grnadpa Bob..try to keep warm with some oh' be joyful and cribbage

I had lived in Iron River in the UP many mnay years ago. That's where there's a lot of snow. I also lived in Alpena for sometime. That city gets a lot of lake effect snow. I don't drink but I love cribbage.
