When did you learn? I can't recall. I think it was from a fellow child, but I can't recall when the code language came to me. I have been teaching my youngest and I recall teaching my first daughter. I don't think I showed any of my sons. I tend to thinkk it's a girl thing. So tell me. Do you know Pig Latin? How long have you been able to speak the code lingo? Would you teach your daughters?

Maybe its the fact that i'm really tired now, but i feel like my mind doesn't work fast enough to speak pig latin. I know that i would have helped learning when i was younger. It is a proven fact that younger minds have an easier time learning languages (even though this isn't technically a real one, im sure it still applies). I think its a good idea to teach your daughters, it could be something that you could call your own, something that will help you bond!

thanks. It's actually fun. I have two young ones left; aged 6 and almost 10. I have so much to help them in learning. This is just a fun thing. We spoke it often at my house, mostly so that my brothers wouldn't know what we were saying. LOL. I'm actually surprised that I still remember.

I learned at a very young age because thats how my mom and my aunts used to talk to each other when they didn't want us kids knowing what they were saying. So my cousins and siblings and I picked up on it pretty quick and then didn't let our parents know that we knew LOL

Thanks for the memories here, Cyn! I hadn't thought about Pig Latin in years. I'll have to see if my grandkids know it and if not, I'll have to teach them, now won't I? Annie

Pig Latin wasn't a girl thing, it was a kid thing. All the kids knew it. No adult taught us Pig Latin. Kids taught kids. It was a very young kid thing where I grew up. By about third grade you were kind of over it. By fouth, if you used it you were made fun of because we were already learning a real foreign language, so it was not necessary anymore. Also by fourth grade we had mastered a lot of sign language and could talk in class that way and not get caught. Shalom~Salaam~Peace
