When do you drink herbal tea?

February 12, 2008 5:31am CST
Do you only drink it when you have a particular health problem or do you drink it for the taste? or maybe both? For me it is both as there are some really nice herbal teas like fennel, which I love any time.

I have terrible insomnia and chamomile and Valerian tea can help with that late at night. Most herbal teas also have no caffeine which is good if you can't fall asleep as caffeine in tea or coffee could still be keeping you awake up to ten hours after you drank it.

Lime flower/linden is also good and I think it tastes better than chamomile. There is a tea company called celestial seasoning who do a tea called sleepy time, which is quite good if you can't sleep.

I used to worry if I didn't sleep but that makes it worse. My sleeping patterns aren't great, I usually go to the living room and put a dvd on, then I'm asleep within about a half hour.

They do recommend getting up and doing something if you can't sleep rather than just lying there, it makes your brain want to go to sleep more apparently.

A big 'S'(yes)for 'T'(Tea). Mainly for its taste then of course I take when I feel like. PS - As we should not forget 'T', we started wearing 'T' shirts too. LOL

Further, Tea is spelt/pronounced faster and easier; Becomes more tastier with ginger, lemon additions. Herbal tea is not just verbal tea. One should just experience and get activated.

You forgot honey :D it can make even the bitterest teas taste good.

The tastier the tea the better and some herbal teas are much nicer than ordinary tea, don't you think?

I drink herbal tea since I was a child, and not necessarily when I have health problems, but mostly for the taste.

You're lucky, I drank black tea when I was a child and it's only in adulthood that I drink herbal teas.

I mostly drink the powedered mix instant tea. I also drink Green Tea because it helps prevent heart disease which is a hereditary thing in part of my family. That's also why I like to eat dark chocolate.

I used to drink the instant tea as for some reason it tasted better than proper tea, I haven't drank it for a while I think I might get some now that you have mentioned it. I like dark chocolate, it tastes better than milk chocolate.

I sure like them. I never did like other tea, and I do not like coffee either. Herbal teas are very healthy for us and there are a lot of different types of teas and they are for different health benefits.

I used to drink black tea but gave up a long time ago. I agree that herbal teas have the advantage of being good for us and very tasty too.

I do force myself to drink several cups a day. I do really like it, but my natural instinct is to reach for the soda so it's often a bit of a struggle! I make it more interesting my having a huge selection to choose from in the cupboard. I also drink a lot of white tea and green tea with different herbs and flavours because they are so rich in anti-oxidants.

I've always got a good selection of mixed herb teas and single ones. I gave up soda a few years ago and I'm amazed I've stayed off it, as I did have cravings for it.

I have a book of recipes on cool, hot and neutral foods but I've only used a few and I'm not sure they worked maybe if I used them more. I didn't know herbal teas could be categorised that way.

You should try moringa leaves or malunggay because it decreases hypertension, lowers blood sugar and can heal wounds, tumors

I've never heard of these but it sounds a very good herb. Can you only get it in your country?

Can't say, I love herbal tea almost as much as I love coffee... I guess I drink it later in the day, when I don't need the caffeine boost that much, but I can still do with a beverage. My favourite herbal teas are fennel and nettle... and anything vanilla flavoured!

Later in the day is the best time for herbal teas esp if its chamomile and lime flower, they are great for winding down. I love fennel too, altho I had to acquire a taste for nettle as I didn't find it a instantly likeable taste but really like it now.

there are lots of times that i like to drink herbal tea. sometimes it's for an ailment (i.e. ginger tea for an upset tummy or lemon tea with a pinch of cayenne and honey for a sore throat) or other times it's because i simply want to enjoy a certain flavor. and of course herbal tea is great when i want to drink a warm tea drink but don't want the caffeine like in black, green, and white tea.
12 Feb 08
I find it is mostly for an ailment that I drink them but you're right, they are a good alternative to ordinary tea, when you don't want the caffeine esp at night.

It is very good for your health, much better than normal tea which has caffeine in it.
