What is the longest amount of time you stayed in a job for?

I am a teacher and the longest amount of time I have stayed working for the same school was three years. I usually like to stay working at the same place, as I like stability and if somthing is working well why change it. My situation is differnt to other jobs of course, as changing schools won't change my financial circumstances. My partner on the other hand always seems to chop and change jobs, which I find frustrating. He is always looking for better pay and it not happy with the way the place is run. So he often goes a lot of the time without pay during transitions of looking for new job. I often wonder if he will even stick at a job for a year. What about you? What is the longest amount of time you have stayed in a job for? What is the shortest amount of time? What made you leave this employment? Do you consider yourself a loyal employee? Or are you always looking for something better?

This November will be 4 years I have been at my current job. It is the longest by 2 years for me. I used to leave jobs all the time because a different employer would offer me better pay or better benefits but the job I have now pays so well and the benefits are amazing that I don't see myself going anywhere else.

I am happy for you that you are content in your job. Four years is quite a time to stay with an employer. SO I guess in your situation leaving jobs paid off for you in the end, now you are in good paying job that you enjoy. Thanks for you comments.
