I used to use FireTune too but there were some "development" subsequently.
I can't be sure but it may have something do with with the relatively old new version of Firefox.
Sometimes, FireTune has been "unnecessary" and in fact may slow down your system.
I can't remember the exact details but I researched a bit then and decided to axe it since. It has been long since I last used Firetune.

I think what you've said maybe true. Firetune actually shows no significant aid to the current version of Firefox 2.0.0.12 and the last one-two updates. My system has been kind of slow since running vista, and Firefox seems to run pretty slow too recently. I have also decided to reverse back and abandon Firetune.
But I do credit its usefulness for earlier versions of Firefox, especially when you have multiple tabs open, and it just crashes suddenly.

Hmm... for your case, I actually suspect the problem might be Vista.
Vista is such a lousy OS and it caused problems for so many people.

I have never use FireTune but I have use a similar plugin called FasterFox. There are cases that it shows improvements, most of the time its not. I cannot attribute this solely to FasterFox and since hardly can I see a performance boost I discontinued its use.

It's a tweak tool that helps to optimize performance. I've downloaded, tested and it did improve performance for me! I hope it did for you and others who are reading this. Cheers! =)
