To All My Friends Here....Have A Happy Valentine's

Well..yup..it's officially that day we set aside to acknowledge our love to someone special in our lives whether a significant other, spouse...at least that was the origins, but now Valentine's Day has expanded where we can show our love and gratitude to members of our family, relatives, and of course our friends. We do this by buying a special card, maybe flowers, jewelry, take our loved ones out for a special dinner.. Heck, I suppose one could even buy a Valentine card for their pet now plus a few little treats or toys.
I don't have anyone "special" in my life right now, so sometimes Valentine's is kind of a downer for me..LOL...But I do something special for myself anyway. I bought myself two small heart shaped boxes of Russell Stover candies..uh, the one box is already gone...uh, yup pigged out on the chocolate..hehe..got myself a special card for myself, and will probably fix a nice little special dinner for myself..what I don't know, as I haven't decided yet.
But what do you folks do on Valentine's Day...anything special?? Do your loved ones give you anything special? Take you out for dinner? Buy flowers? Give you cards?
I tried to place this on as many of my friend's comments section as possible. It's my own Valentine's Day greeting I made up, with the help of one of my photos and a bit of Photoshop magic.. ..but yikes I have a lot of friends here....so don't feel left out if I didn't place a Happy Valentine's Day greeting to you directly..so instead...I have a copy of the Valentine's Day greeting here..This is for ALL my friends here at MyLot...it's my way to let you know how much I appreciate and love each one of you

Do enjoy your day and your special dinner. I will be taking my mother out for lunch or dinner which ever she prefers and then I will be coming back home and be right back here with all my special online friends.

Well hope you have a great lunch or dinner...where are you planning to go? La Fuesta? I was there just once and the food is fantastic! Yikes expensive, but I didn't pay as my friend was treating me...hehee

I need to take her to a place where they have her favorite Manicotti, typical Italian woman. lol All the years I have lived here and have passed La Fuesta, I have never eaten in there, if it's that's good I need to try it one day.

I do nopt have anyone in my life yet either but my very dear friend brought me a red rose and dinner that night and my boys all wished me Happuy Valentines Day, I brought my granddaughter a locket and put hers and mine pictures in it that was fior my granddaughter that was giveb away and for the others I got them hamsters.

You just reminded me to go check my comments. I usually check them every so often but sometimes I forget LOL.
I hope you too have a wonderful Valentines Day! I love the plans you have made for yourself! I think it's fantastic that you do those things :)
We usually go out to eat and buy a little something for one another and I usually get a dozen roses. This year though since I'm not working I told him I'd make his favorite meal (meatloaf) instead of going out. And I told him all I wanted from him was a rose, a card, dinner at the table (as we usually veg out in front of the TV), and an hour without TV or any other distractions - and I'd like to spend it out side weather permitting. I don't know if I'll get the hour today though because he likes to wind down after work by watching TV and I completely understand that so I told him this weekend would be fine :) I got him 3 DVD's and a box of reeses peanut butter cups (a tradition of ours).
I'm not into boxes of candy. I don't like most of the assorted candies. It's nice to get them every now and then (if he's feeling very traditional).

Oh my...reeses peanut butter cups...oh I LOVE them...hehee..save me some, okay? Well I did go out today to grocery shop and since I don't have it often decided to have a nice steak dinner with sauteed mushrooms and onions, and fries..and bought myself a special box of gourmet style cookies...yum...can't wait...LOL

My wife and I have not given each other a thing for many years. I sent her flowers to her work one year and she was not pleased as she got embarressed by it as they came during the dinner rush and a lot of customers saw them. Anyhow heres a gift for you.

this SAt we have a triple birthday celebration in the works we cook and they come over its for me me son that just got back from Iraq and his wife we all had bithdays within a few days of each other but this is the first weekend we could get together hugs

I read this after Valentine's Day, but thanks for the wishes. I hope you had a wonderful day as well. My hubby had an appt. with his surgeon on that day so we did spend the day together, went to lunch after the drs. appt. & he gave me the nicest card I have ever rec'd from anyone. So it was a very nice day for me. Hope yours was too :)

Hi Pye! I posted on an earlier response, but I'll remind you here...LOL I'd love to have your spaghetti recipe, for your homemade sauce I read you desribe. Made me hungry and mine I am tired of. Hubby had 2 back surgeries. We have been getting very little food stamp assistance, now they are wanting even MORE documents, I said nothing has changed, we are still getting zero dollars income, but they said if we don't call him employer and send them the exact documents we will stop getting even the little bit we are getting. Makes me sooo angry. We are employed, tax paying citizens, others can walk in from out of the country even and get assistance and free medical, no questions asked. Go figure.

I know I can't figure out how people can come into this country and get all kinds of assistance, when native born people have to struggle and fight tooth and nail for something just to help them out a bit.
Mmmm..are you sure that was me about the homemade spaghetti/sauce recipe...think that might have been someone else....maybe TerryZ?? I know she makes her own spaghetti sauce, but I just rely on good old Prego...LOL

Yes, I did have a nice day too...fixed myself a nice dinner and pigged out on the chocolate I had gotten..heheh..and today, when I went to my Walgreen's I got another really big heart-shaped box of chocolates...couldn't resist as all the Valentine's candy was 75% off..Hope everything is all right with your husband ..what kind of surgery does he need?

thanks for the valentine wishes..
tho' i dont 'exactly' celebrate valentine's day..
BUT i do celebrate it as the anniversary of my husband's and my official first date... 20-years ago...
cant believe i've been with him that long - although we are officially married in 1992... after four years of 'courtship'..
.. our valentine's day / anniversary is simply - watching a movie + dinner.. no gifts or presents.. just our 'time-out' from the kidz, sort of..
but this year.. he went out and actually got me something.. a rat !!... a toy "RATATOUILLE"..
he knows i luv cartoon characters, and said he saw this one in a shop near his office..
no matter... i wasnt expecting anything except for the routine dinner... so.. rat or no rat... i luv his present...

You are such a sweetheart wishing all of your myLot friends a Happy Valentine's Day! I know it's a little late, but I definitely want to contribute to this wonderful discussion. Happy Belated Valentine's Day to you, my friend. You'll have to tell me what you ended up doing on the special day. You're right, it can still be special even if you don't necessarily have that "significant other" to share it with. Share it with yourself! Your discussion has really taught me a lot. My Valentine's Day was really special because, to make a long story short, my boyfriend became my fiance! He proposed to me on a horse-drawn carriage ride in Frankenmuth, Michigan. It was very romantic. It's the first time in two or three years that I actually got to see him on Valentine's Day, so it was already really special to me. Of course, this is the first year I couldn't really enjoy the chocolates like I used to. By the way, Russell Stover is my FAVORITE! (LOL) I found out a few months ago that I'm allergic to chocolate. So...my honey got me half a dozen roses instead. They are beautiful! It was such a sweet day. I'll always remember the best Valentine's Day I ever had! I have a discussion about it also in which I have a picture of my engagement ring if you'd like to have a look. I haven't posted any pictures yet, but I plan to. It's called "Rules of Engagement" if you would like to check it out! In the mean time, I'm so happy to hear about your Valentine's plans. If I'm ever by myself on that particular day sometime in the future, I'll definitely follow after your wonderful example!

Oh, my goodness, you really did have a special day for Valentine's, can't beat getting engaged on that day. I had a nice steak dinner with sauteed mushrooms and onions with fries and got myself a special box of gourmet style cookies to munch on..so yes, I did enjoy myself :)

well i got to go to dinner and i got a really nice pair of snow boots and a apple peeler that you crank ....you stick a apple on the prongs then you crank the handle and this arm thingy comes down adn peels it and slices it into like a slinky type and its ready to eat great for making pies i have a really great hubby blessings to you

I know i already late for these discussion, but for me valentime it is good for everyone even you dont have loveones, it will be great to you when you treat yourself a little gift as you said, when i spend my valentime with familt its great because even my friend spend with us, also the dearesr friend of mine call me that for how many years we dont have any contact with him so happy this valentime.

Happy Valentine's Day to you Pye! I have a special Valentine, and his name is Sherlock. Yes, he is my little dog, but he's sweeter than any man I've ever met! LOL I always get my parents something for Valentine's Day, whether it be a card, or a chocolate butterfinger heart. My dad usually gets me and my sister flowers or chocolate, and that is of course sweet of him. I used to get my friends things for Valentine's Day because it doesn't have to be about romantic love. I can't afford to do that this year, but I hope they know I love them. And of course I love you too Pye. If you were here I'd give you the biggest bear hug that is possible. That is, if you didn't mistake me for a lunatic first. : )

Well my two special sweeties are Pyewacket and Kissy..my two kitties...I went grocery shopping today and got a nice steak for my dinner, although I have a suspicion it'll be them eating most of it ...also will sautee some mushrooms and onions. I don't often have steak but figured a nice treat for myself. And no, I won't mistake you for a lunatic...and I'll gladly take that hug... ;)

Well, pyewacket, you can count me among those who have no one special in their lives at this time, but, I'm fine with that. I treated myself to a brunch from our neighborhood restaurant which my daughter picked up for me. I've wished all the ladies in my life a Happy Valentine's Day(have not ran across any men today, lol. I also wanted to leave comments on all of my friend's pages, but have gotten so far behind that I didn't get the chance.
