this point was a given for a long time but German almost won out in the beginning of our country. Someone told me "Indian" should have been that this was not going to happen..it has too many tribes and most did not have a "written" langueage.. Spanish is a close second with all the latino's coming into ths countty from our neighbors to the south and south america... if you were in most countries other then the US you would just have to learn their language or get an interpeter...no pushing one for English..that is still not setting well with most real americans..sorry..that is the way i was raised..we were discouraged from speaking our native German..it was to be English or nothing

Isn't it? Of course I think it should be, but that doesn't mean that other languages shouldn't be recognized. (which they are) I visit Germany quite often and if I were to move there, I would have to learn the language more fluently in order to get by. I wouldn't expect the native people to learn English for me.
