The Latest Campus Shooting

Does it seem to anyone other than myself that the increase in school campus shootings is on the rise? I just heard of the latest that happened in Illinois today. It was reported that 15 people had been taken to the hospital, and the gunman was dead. I have to ask myself, "Why does this keep happening?" Is there nothing being done to stop these shootings? I hear following each one that more safety measures are being put into place to prevent future episodes, but nothing has changed. What is it going to take to bring a stop to this insanity?

Yeah this world is turning for the bad and everything is being turned upside down and turmoil is just increasing day by day. This world is going mad and people, in particular these gunmen, are finding ways to get around the system. If only these people could get the help they need as they are obviously troubled if they are going to take it out in the ways that they do. Proper care and diagnosis of troublesome children early on should be in effect to prevent such occurrences from happening.

I believe it all starts in the home, almajoes. So many parents are too busy making a living and not giving their children the proper attention. The children grow up with all this repressed anger until they can no longer hold it in.

This is a issue way above something my mind can aswer too, but what I do know for sure is that I do not think its something we can affect. There will always be people that will be left out, forgotten and hurt. In a world so based around pain and suffering there is no doubt there will always be someone crossing the edge and taking his/her frustration out on others. The easiest way to get heard for the people ignored and forgotten, is to do this kind of stuff. Well I don't know the motive really, im just asuming (ofc), but I can only guess that more is about to come unless we somehow magicly rids the world of all depressed people?

There are always going to be depressed people in the world, maabyy, but it is a modern phenomenon that people choose to take as many as they can out with them when they feel they can no longer go on. I think it's due to a decline in moral values.

It seems like there is just too much going on everywhere. I just cannot understand what drives people to this. It seems you really are not safe anywhere.

I agree that this is very alarming. It started with the Columbine shootings in 1999, and it never stopped since then. I think it's a combination of lack of morals and influence from media. Some movies and television shows glorify criminals as "macho". If children are taught that it is wrong to kill people because they would go to hell, then maybe none of this would happen.

What you say is true, wisedragon, but Big Pharma and the doctors who prescribe all these anti-depressant medications to our children should shoulder some of the blame also.

What scares me ww honey is what drives a young person to feel that they are justified in taking innocent lives in this way! I have been in that deep dark hole where I felt that my life was worthless and there was no point in going on but NEVER did I think of hurting or taking another life as part of the answer! How do you stop such a thing, how can you tell the difference between normal teenage angst and someone who is so broken they feel that this is the answer? I wish I had an answer for you here sweety but the truth is I have no idea - my heart breaks with each new story we hear of this! Thank you for keeping us up to date - we had no news of this in the uk til long after you had given us this information! xxxx
