Scientology, the truth

Well some of it anyway. Let me first start by saying im new here and this is my first discussion, and I hope to see atleast some interested people in what I have to write. I have been a critic of Scientology for a while, but well not any big time, but I been reading a lot of texts and articles and watching a lot of videos educating myself of the "Church" of Scientology. Scientology was created like 50-60 years ago (im too lazy to check the actual date right now) by a Science Fiction writer named L Ron Hubert. He was a small time sci-fi writer that managed to build up what today is the "religion" of Scientology. He is quoted saying: "If a man really wanted to make a million bucks he would start his own religion". And thats what he did. He made a religion based around practicly brainwashing its members into believing something that is so far out there you are just left staring at the wall thinking "huh is this for real" when hearing it. Scientology is based around the belief of that ages and ages ago, the evil galactic overlord Xenu dealt with the overcrowded planet by throwing us all in a volcano and killing us. Then he captured the souls of us in soul catchers and sent the souls back to earth and brainwashed them so they were floating mindlessy around. Now when the humans first arrived the souls took the humans bodies and that are us today, the reason wer so confused and dont know the reason of our own existance is because of the brainwashing overlord xenu did back then. Now this is pretty insane right? How could someone take this for real? Well the genius of Scientology is to base their beliefs around learning people a bit of the religion at the time, and learning about xenu isn't something you will do until the very end. It starts off with very normal things, like courses that will teach you how to be a better person, and how to be happer or how to earn a bit more money at work. And you do pay for every course, this is not your average religion. So yeah you heard right, religion isn't free. So by the time you actually learn about Xenu you are so brainwashed (And broke) that you actually find the story likely, and believe it. And this, the cult of scientology gets away with. There is so much to Scientology I could cover, but I am going to save some for later to see the interest of this here, before writing my hands sore. Thanks for reading.

First of all, great post! Scientology was one of my first posts, too! All sorts of Hollywood types are into Scientology: Tom Cruise and his wife, John Travolta and his wife, Kirstie Alley, Lisa Marie Presley and Priscilla Presley, Isaac Hayes, Jenna Elfman, Karen Black.... The fact that Greta Van Susteran is a member kind of shocked me. Then again, she's a Faux News Diva, so I guess it really doesn't. I definitely think that Scientology is a cult and not a religion. It fits all the criteria for a cult. And if it looks like one... Anyway, great post!

I have read what you wrote here and it really doesn't make much sense to me. I believe in something more than this so maybe that is why it seems far fetched to me. It is a good discussion though. You put a lot of thought into it. Thanks for the post. It was very informative.

Well it comes out a bit wrong in my first post, cause I am really not opposing their beliefs, only their way of believing. If they want to believe people was thrown in a volcano by a space alien then ok, but. They cannot base their religion on that and not tell them until they spent over 360 000$ and years and years in practising the religion. They cannot brainwash people and then tell them what to think. They are violating laws and abusing humans. They have infiltrated the goverment of the USA in the past stealing documents, and they got caught, and jailed and now their denying that it ever happened. They have killed members of their own organization/religion/cult. So yeh, im questioning their methods not their beliefs, sorry if that is comming unclearly forth in the first post.

http://www.exscientologykids.com has a lot of good information, including more about the Xenu piece. I wonder what "level" Tom Cruise is at and if he believes the Xenu stuff? Maybe he's still too new at it to have read those papers?

I'm sure famous rich people are treated differently than the rank and file, too. I've heard reports of Scientology being like a cult that people can't get out. It was covered on TV, but I can't remember what program. Wife can't remember the name of it, either, but she remembers the program.
