Do you return miscalls or ignore it?

I would text first the person who called if I need to make a return call or they would call again. Some people would send text messages at once if I miss their calls but some would tell me to call them because they need to discuss something important with me and their load or credit is not enough anymore. Some would say that they intentionally "miscall" me just to let me know that they are still alive and they remembered me. Truth is, I am annoyed with miscalls because i would sometimes hurry to reach for my CP and then it would turn out that the caller does not intend to talk to me. FYI, miscall (or miscol) is now added to the Filipino Dictionay because lots of Filipino do miscall to signal the receiver that they are waiting for a reply (ex. my husband would miscall me to alert me that he sent a message that needs my reply ASAP) or just to let the called party know they still exist. O well, SMS Alerts are notas noisy as Call alerts...

Yes msg alerts are not so irritating, but so are the missed calls, especially if the number is unknown to me and if they keep giving me missed call, and if it turns out to be a wrong number if I call them back, I get so irritated.

I feel the same too but I got so busy this morning I forgot to leave a message to my auntie when I called her and she was not able to answer her phone. She rang my phone once and then cut it off so I texted her at once but she did not answered it. She called back anyway so we get to talk. I know that a missed call is important when the person who called would leave a message or try calling me again. Thanks for responding!

I prefer not to callback the miscall phone with the stranger numbers. But sometimes I call the number back if I have the business like selling the house, motor or look for job. But The one thing that I hate being called someone if they use hidden number. I really hate that.

If I expected a call and knew that the one I missed is the one I'm really waiting, I would call the other party at once but if I don't have any business with the one who is trying to reach then I just wait for them to call again or leave a message so I'd know what to do. Thanks for responding!

Cell phones are plainly abused and misused to a great degree now days. Miscalls are anoying and at least unnecessary (sp). By the way, put your phone down and drive. LOL

I agree with that most people abuse cellphones that's why I don't want my number being given away. I don't judge people who wants to start friendship via cellphone but they must also consider the owner if they really want to be bugged or not.

If ever I receive a miss call, I will check the caller if its on my phone book and if a am familiar with the caller I will return the call. But if I am not, I would usually text and inquire about his identity and his reason for calling and from there I will decide if I will call or ask for a return call. Although in some instances, when I text the caller, instead of replying through text, they will call right away.

hello. if I receive the miscall from a registered number on my cell phone, usually I will make a return call to the person. if I don't know who have miscalled me, then I don't make a return call. but there are some people who are like you mentioned above, miscalling me just for useless talk or something like that, so if I receive any miscall from them, I will ignore it.

I agree with you, but when I really get curious, I would just text them or miscall them too. I can't just return calls because it's very expensive here.

I'd also try to call back if they had tried calling me three times. One missed call may not be that important or if the call is important, they would probably send sms. Thanks for your posting!

Thanks for posting! Imposrtance of calls really depends on our priorities. I would gladly return the call too if the person who called is very important to me.

it all depends on the gravity of the calls and who it is from. if the caller left a message that is pretty serious in matter and needs urgent condition for me to call, i would definitely return the call. if the call was a call from a friend that always calls me at the wrong time and place, i would just ignore it and just wait for him/her to call me back again.

I'd also wait for the message or another call since if it is really important, the caller would probably call again. Some friends do call frequently, without even considering the time and place where u are at the moment so I just ignore or text them that I am busy and cannot take a call for the mean time. Thanks for responding!

When I missed a call, most of the time I would give their phone numbers a beep. Should I say, I would miscall them too. Especially to numbers not stored in my phone book, I would either miscall them or send them a text message asking "who you?" if I don't know that number. :) That's what I usually do to unknown numbers. For numbers who are stored in my phone book especially my family, I would definitely call them back at once. -Happy postings=

I do that too but when I don't feel like entertaining the caller, I just let them call me again or wait for their text coz they'll probably call me again if it is really important. If the caller is my significant other, I would definitely call them back too. Thanks for responding!

Well, a missed call may come from either a known number or an unknown one. If it's an unknown one I generally ignore it. But often it happens that the same unknown number gives multiple number of missed calls. In such a scenario I text that number to reveal his/her identity. Otherwise i generally wait for the person giving the missed call to call back again. If they dont, I realise that it must have been an useless missed call. But most people, if they are in any urgent need, call back again fairly quickly.

If a persistent caller really needs your reply, they would also send SMS if they are not able to reach after a series of call right? In my case, there are international calls that registers "0000" or "unknown" so I would just text my mom or the expected caller (most of them are my relatives. As to registered "unsaved" number, I let either text them or miscall them too. They have a choice of either texting me and introducing themselves. Some are really respectful and would reply that they just misdialled my number.

I sometimes ignore calls because they might call back again or if not I will call them if they dont return calls in half an hour. It is good to give back calls too coz you never know what that call really means. For instance it is an emergency at least you know whats happening around you.

I agree but foe me, if the person who is calling has something very important to tell me, they must be leaving a message or at least text me so that I'd know if I must return their call or not. There are already lots of instances I encountered where people ring my phone just to know if their prospect textmate's nmber is active. I go ignore those kinds of people and sometimes I even argue with them.

Gee it is not like that here in Australia, people do not usually call you just to let you know they are alive, nor would they text people to tell them to call as they don't have enough credit. I guess we are lucky here in Australia as they have pretty good package deals for mobiles. I have good deal 10cents for each minute which is sometimes cheaper then writing a series of text messages if you just want to make a cheap call. In answer to your question I always return missed calls, however not always straight away as I might be busy at the time. Or if it is someone that I really do not want to talk to at that time I usually ignore it and call them next day. I always call my family and closest friends back straight away as it may be important.

If a number calls me and I don't know it then I don't answer. If a friend calls and I'm busy or don't know a reason why they'd be calling I don't usually answer. I hate talking on the phone and have a small fear of talking on the phone and not having anything to talk about/not having anything to talk about. I should probably answer my phone more since that's what it's for but I only see a purpose for my cell phone a couple times a month. Without it I'd feel pretty lost though haha :)

Would you mind telling us why you have a phobia answering your phone? I receive almost all the big news through my CP (the best and the worst) but I still value my phone a lot. I don't also change my number frequently because some people may need to call me. Most of the time, I would answer calls regardless of where I am and who I am with. (Unless i'm in the classroom or teaching at home or in a meeting.)

If I got a misscall from a registered number, I do return the call. Or, sometimes, I text the person to find out why he/she called. If the call/s came in while I was away or without me knowing that my phone has been ringing and such call was made by my mom, dad or my boyfriend, I immediately call them to know why they called. However, if someone misscalls just for the heck of it (of course you would know that especially if done frequently), I just ignore it.

I would at once too if the registered caller is my significant other. Sometimes if there are already 3 succeeding unanswered calls, I would text or call the caller. When the frequency of miscalling is annoying, I would tell the miscaller directly how I hate their acts. Some of my students do that so I would rreally tell the whole class but I never name them of course.

I only return missed calls when I know the number. I hate calling and finding out it was just a wrong number (I get them often, for some reason), so if I don't know the number, I let them leave a message.

I guess it depends on who the call was from. If it family or a good friend I will try to return the call as soon as possible. however, if it is a number I do not recognize I might also try to call it right away. Sometimes it is just a wrong number and when they say hello I am not really sure who to ask for. I just say your number is on my phone and I am returning a missed call. That can be pretty awkward.
