Do you buy things online? What sort of things do you buy? How do you pay for them? Have you ever had problems buying things online? The only "shopping" I have ever done online is when I used to buy through eBay and mostly it was good with the occassional hiccup of course. Please share your experiences with us.

Since I moved to Nicaragua I don't buy anything online. But when I was in the U.S. I bought bed linens online (I could get better quality at a lower price). I also bought books, jewelry, computer, and various other things. The only thing that I ever bought that was a fraud was also the biggest thing I ever bought on line, a flat panel TV. I used Paypal to pay for it and they recovered all but about $80 of my money. I kind of stopped after that unless it was someone I had previously had dealings with online.

I love online shopping! I think I like it too much lol I tend to get bored at work sometimes and get distracted by shopping hehe I've never had any bad experiences yet, I use eBay a bit, and I use some other sites to buy books, dvds and perfumes. It's always good for christmas shopping :) I se my credit card for purchases, but only use well known sites and also like to make sure they have that padlock thing in the corner which means they protect your details

I don't mind sharing my some of the best experience of buying online, which have been really worth to me and saved a lot of mine and efforts, I generally buy gift & choclates for my loved ones who re there in the india, link below is http://www.giftsflowerstoindia.com/chocolates.php I also a freequent member of the famous digital photo printing wesite, were the prices for ur snaps taken on 35mm roll or digital camera can be uploaded to their site, and then pay the may be 3$ for printing of 25 photos and then u re shipped in 1- 2 business days, the link below http://www.snapfish.com/login/pns/youraccount/otsc=SYE/otsi=ROCF I am also a member of ebay, so i would conclude that u should pick the best online shopping service to make the best of it.

I've bought lots of things - books, make up, perfume, jewellery (not the GOOD stuff!), book labels, and hubby has bought lots of things on ebay - he's a collector of Superman memorabilia. Also he's bought USB sticks for the PC. Must be other stuff too!

Thanks for responding to the discussion Bunny and it sounds like you have had lots of positive experience buying online. Have you sold anything online or only been a buyer at this time? I have given you best response for this discussion. :)

For most things, I like to touch them and see them first. But I've bought concert tickets, plane tickets, and other such things online. My husband got his prescription swim goggles online - they were cheaper that way. We have a separate credit card with a fairly low limit for online purchases, and I'm careful not to give out bank information.

Not me .... but my partner has in the past .... she had a couple of bad experiences so now only buys from those that she knows and trusts. It can be a problem sometimes giving our personal information over the internet .... no matter how good anti-virus, spyware protection is etc. She got a separate credit card from the bank with a limit of just $1000 ..... and now uses that for online shopping. That way if she is scammed .... they won't get too much which is more than most people who have been scammed can say. Buying over the internet can be good and fun and cheap .... if you take care not to get scammed that is.

A good idea to have a separate credit card to use when buying over the internet, and I note that some earlier respondents had said the same actually. There are sometimes bargains to be had if you do shop online, but of course you must take the postage costs into consideration which your partner is probably well aware of. :)

I buy things from eBay all the time. It is my favourite site for shopping and checking out prices online. However i have had a bad experience now wherein i have paid for a product but not yet recieved it and no matter how much i try to contact the buyer does not respond. But i hope ebay will solve this problem for me soon.

I do hope that the matter is resolved with eBay and know how you feel because I had one seller who did that to me. I spent ages chasing her up, several emails and even phoned her but despite repeated promises that the item would be sent, it never came. Then I reported her to eBay, so she left me a negative feedback - the only one I ever got and at that time eBay wouldn't cancel it although they have since changed the rules on that. And I never got my item although eBay did reimburse me some of the costs, as I had paid via Paypal. Thanks for your contribution to the discussion. :)

i buy through ebay mostly which i pay with paypal and i find that i've never had a bad experience with that. . . i have bought a book through biblio.com. . . you can buy used books there for a great discount. . .i payed for this with paypal as well. .. i received the book within a week

It is good to read that you have had no problems either with buying through eBay or biblio, and also that you can use paypal to pay for things. That certainly makes it a lot easier plus it does give some measure of protection should the item not arrive. :)

I shop for everything that I possibly can online. I love the convenience of choosing things without a salesperson bothering me, or being in a crowded store. I have used Ebay, amazon, overstock and many other online stores. I can't think of one truly horrible experience that I have had. I usually just use pay pal if possible. If shipping is too high, then I will generally go to the sotre then. But if it is reasonable, like at overstock, then I will order online verses going to a store any day!

It does sound like you have it all organised Geminigirl with regard to shopping online. Yes there are times when it is good not to be bothered by salespeople, but I find that more and more these days they are actually not at all interested in the client/customer. :)
