At work today I got into a discussion what would we do without the internet? I suggested we would have to go to classes in social communication, what do you think?

lol...if it weren't for the internet I would have NO life! It's basically all I have. I have more "friends" on the internet than in real life. I'm in rough shape huh?

The only reason I wouldnt have the social life I use to have is simply because of location really...I mean not only do I live in the country and don't drive (plus we dont have a second car anyway) most of my dearest friends are scattered all over the world...The ppl I love the most are in various parts of Canada, various States and Australia so its not like I could pop over for coffee anyway ya know....but IF I didnt have internet of if it was suddenly gone one day we'd just talk on the phone ya know.. LOL as far as social communication goes..well I'm actually pretty skilled at that since it was a MAJOR part of my life from a very young age..I mean you figure you have to survive on the streets (which I have since 13) you HAVE to know how to not only talk to ppl but read them and so on, its part of survival....When I was dancing I HAD TO socialize if I wanted to make money and get along with the other girls (especially when I worked the circut yrs ago)...Owning my own biz I HAD TO be able to communicate with clients, suppliers and so on....and the list goes on....Add to that the fact that I do "counsel" so many ppl on a weekly basis...communicating isnt a weak thing for me at all...

My Friends Keep Me Dancing - Women Friends Joined In Fun
Eskarena, Yes, I would still have a life, but it wouldn't be nearly as much fun. Dr. Phil isn't as good at therapy as all of MyLot Friends are!~Donna

I absolutely would not have a social life if it wasn't for the internet. In fact if it wasn't for the internet I would have never met my husband.

Only a few months ago, I never would have thought that the internet and my computer would come to mean so much to me. I only used it for e-bay and e-mail, and not too much of that. Ok, a lot of e-bay. I love it. But then I found Mylot and a new world opened up for me. Amazing. I have found so many people here that I have come to care so deeply about, Eskarena. We communicate not only here, but on e-mail and on the phone too. Those friends are real friends and are priceless to me. I have had the honor of counting you among them, and that is a true gift. I so enjoy our communications and look forward to all of them. I find myself thinking about you, and some of my other friends here, throughout my day, out in my 'real' life, and talking about you to my 'real life' friends. Some of them just shake their heads at me, and others giggle with me about it all. I love being here and having the fun I have and intend to continue. So, I'll see you here, there, and a few other places, too. Nitey nite, darlin!

I don't know what I'd do without the internet. I love the internet. I met my husband on line. The internet has certanly made the world bigger (or smaller, however you want to look at it) for me, and it's make it much easier for me to stay in touch with people all around the world that I don't get to see very often.

No, I would not have a social life it weren't for the internet! You see, I was in a serious car accident and am unable to drive so I'm not able to go out and socialize. Plus all my friends keep in contact with me through the internet.

YA, ofcourse, internet is not contributing a single percentage in the formation of the social life, according to me, it is the fictitious world around us.

No, not me, I would still be the same person I am, whether we had the internet or not! I am the same person on the internet or in person! It's just that the internet, you don't have to travel as far, and you get to talk, and communicate with people around the world, but here in my town, I am still the same social human being, I just have to do a lot more walking, and see more people in person !

Well I'm not a complete recluse, but I have to admit now that I have my own computer I'm not as "social" as I had been just over a year ago. I do use my computer for more than just hooking up to the net, and especially here at myLot as I do my photo work on it and writing as well. I actually get annoyed when the phone rings, even though I have my message machine as I find it an intrusion on my time in front of the computer. My one friend actually left a message while I was in the middle of photo scans that "Okay, time to get off your computer, you can't be THAT busy" Duh? Oh, yes I am. For my real life friends I can count on my one hand...for my internet friends, would need about fifty hands and feet each to count on

Human being is called a social animal. A person could not live well with out a social life. Meaning of social life is the life with or in society. we adopt the society and customs of the society. we do respect them and then we could live well in and with the society in question. Internet is something new to our physical societies. It is creating a virtual society on line. the people, who are involve are cutting themselves from the physical social life. In physical social life, we maintain our social status. but here we feel different. And spare ourself to attend the society online.

Advent of internet in our life is of recent origin and we should not become slave to it. In fact there is still plenty of time left to meet our friends, our relatives, go places meet new people, besides doing our regular jobs. Internet occupies only 2 hours in a day and therefore it does not affect our social life in any manner.

I know I wouldn't have a social life if I didn't have the internet. I don't have friends outside of my marriage. I like having alot of friends here at Mylot though because everyone is so nice and helpful.

I don't think that we would have to go that far but without the Internet I do believe that my life would definitely be less interesting. I remember when I first got my original computer (it was an Apple IIe) that I never imagined the Internet and what affect it would have on my life today. We build businesses via the Internet, make new friends in places like myLot, and even learn new things from sites that turn out to be educational in nature. Although as a race we would adjust to no longer having an Internet, I don't want to go back to that world even if it were simpler.
