What characteristic/habit do you hate about a person?

For me this is simple. I can tolerate almost anything in a person except a compulsive liar. This is a person who instead of telling the truth, they lie about simple things to fill their illusions of grandeur. Always has to make themselves out to be better than what they really are. I have no problems with little white lies, but when they lie to make themselves out to be something that they are not. That is totally wrong. I also hate it when they lie about the things they have done in their life. Or about situations that happen. To me, a liar is someone that cannot be trusted. If I cannot trust the person, then I want nothing to do with them. So my question is this. What characteristic/habit do you hate about some people? Inquiry minds want to know. Thank You.

Looks like browsing the discussion with no responses paid off this time, this is a good topic. I absolutely agree, liars cannot be trusted. My husband always says, a liar and a thief go hand in hand. Those are the same characteristics I hate in a person too. That and people that blow themselves up to be better and more interesting then what they really are, which actually falls right in line with lying. Awesome post and welcome to mylot.

Thank You on both accounts. I have this acquaintance at work that does nothing but lie. If you ever listen to him talk you would see what I mean. This person is only 38 years old but has done everything accept travel to the moon. But wait, that might happen next year.

At times, the characteristic that can get to me is the one-track-minded person who only responds to certain topics here. Recently, one of the respondents above me started three discussions pertaining to the 9/11 incident. The next day, she started a fourth discussion asking if anyone noticed something missing. That something missing was Michelle Obama. Some of those Obamaphiles did not touch any of the other three 9/11 discussions, & pretty much went on a personal attack spree on those who felt that Michelle should have been there with her husband. If those people ever end up getting what they want, I can see the United States having its named to The People's Republic Of The United States.

I just got in my step brothers face about lying about stupid things. I asked him if he made tea. He said yes. 4 hours later I went to get a glass of tea and there wasn't any. His excuse was "when you asked I was about ready to make it but I forgot" How does that explaining lying to me in the first place? So yeah lying is big on my list but it has to directly involve me or I'm not concerned. If one of my friends told me they had been lived in Jamaica, worked as a cocktail waitress in a gay bar, got elected Miss Queen of the Pumpkin Patch, and personally fed 2,000 starving kids in Africa all just last month I wouldn't care. None of their lies hurt me. This is also why I take everything I see written all over the internet with a grain of salt. I'm not effected by it, so it causes me no harm and half the time even if the person saying these outrageous things and is just story telling they have made me laugh and brightened my day. The thing I cannot stand ABOVE all else is being judged by people who don't know me. Have an opinion fine, but unless you can produce facts, keep your fool mouth shut before making yourself look like an even bigger idiot then you are trying to convince people I am. Great discussion.
