As parents, we are very proud of the achievements of our children especially when they excel in classes. What is the main factor for having intelligent children, is genetic or the environment?

I personally have no kids, but I believe environment plays a bigger role in intelligence then genetic. Because a person could be born a genius, yet if his/her environment doesn't force them to use that intelligence they will not even know they have it.

Children learn by example, hence the saying "monkey see monkey do". I would have to say intelligence in children is environmental not necessary genetic. I believe that every generation can be smarter then the last if the right example is set. I try to watch my words around my kids and correct them if needed. I try to set examples like not procrastinating important things. I teach my kids respect of themselves and others. If every parent did better then there own this world could be a better place. I truly think this world is going down because parents aren’t allowed to be parents any more. We aren’t aloud to spank our kids or reprimand them in public. The schools don’t give “F’s” or have try outs in football because it may hurt the child’s self esteem. You can’t tell a child no because parents now take the easy way and just say yes, or say no 16 times then say yes. I think if you teach your child constancy, respect, and morals then they will be more intelligent people because they know right from wrong, they know that procrastination is not an option, and they will respect themselves enough to know they need an education.

As far as I know, intelligence of a kid is determined by the gene of the parents. Nutrition and environment do play important part in the development of the child as well with respect to intelligence.
