In UK they are asking for a DNA database - What are your views?

There are those for and against. The UK Government recently are guilty of losing lots of personal information about people, but there is a cry for a DNA database to help solve crime. Is this an evasion of privacy or do you think it will lead to a reduction in people committing crimes because they will be afraid of being caught as their DNA and forensics will catch them. I personally think that the pyschos will still committ no matter what, but will it make a difference to the sane. Will they consider their options before carrying out a crime? Ellie :D

I think its a great idea. But I'm with you the criminals wouldn't care. I believe its a challenge to see how much they could do before getting caught. There may be some who would think before acting but not many..

Thank you I agree you on this one, would it really make that much of a difference to the criminally insane who would carry on anyway. Ellie :D

I'm all for anything that can help catch the criminals. Especially if they kill someone.

I was talking about over one year ago, but people said that I am loosing my mind. I said that soon they will ruin our privacy by collecting DNA, fingerprints and iris.... It will not stop criminals, but will make all of us as world slaves.

It is great that recently some major criminals have been caught because of their DNA but this does worry me also because our government has recently lost very personal details that were supposed to be secure about people so what effects would DNA have getting into wrong hands. Big brother watching eh! I agree. Ellie :D

It has put two mass murderers and caught another killer this week here in UK alone, so DNA is really helping with crime solving and the everyday innoccent person has nothing to worry about in that respect, but the Government does tend to lose a lot of personal data lately and with science advancing so much if in wrong hands would they be able to use it for something else. Don't know the answer on this one. Ellie:D

Hi axle_shockhits, thank you so much for sharing I was unaware of this in Denmark but if it has always been in place they have acceptance, which is something we don't have in the Uk yet. Ellie :D

I don't think it's a bad idea at all. It might stop some of the crime rate, maybe. i would hope so anyways. you never know though. good luck with it, you never know what could happen...it might be the greatest thing. God bless

This week because of foresnics and DNA it has imprisoned two mass murderers for life, and solved another one so for the parents of the poor girls killed it has given them closure to know the correct person has been found and is being made to pay for their crime, even though it will never bring their poor daughters back, but a complete DNA database on everyone will come with its own set of problems because our government is well known for losing pesonal information kept on people. The nutters will still kill but I think having one will be a deterant for many. God Bless. Ellie :D
