Do you think Lil Bush's comments might have sparked the Dow to drop 300+ today so far? I also found it very interesting that Dubya did not even know gas prices are expected to soar to $4.00+ this Spring. It really shows how in touch the Republican Party is with the common person. Here is a link to the whole article as Bush talks about his Robust Stimulus Package and other nonsense. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080228/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush

Bush is proud of himself. So, he wants to believe this stimulus package has worked. He wants this as a feather in his cap. He wants to believe this and -- if his track record is any indication -- he will continue to believe it even after the fallacy of it is obvious to everyone else. Does he not know about gas prices? Well, we could assume he is stupid. The president of the United States not being informed about the gas price trends -- which are a very important concern for most working Americans. Or, we could assume he is pretending not to know because he doesn't want to be drawn into a discussion of what, ultimately, traces back to his own inadequacies.

I think Bush is just totally naive about raising gas prices, raising food prices, raising utility prices, etc. He might truly think his stimulus package has saved our economy but I agree with most economists who pretty much equate it to throwing a rock into the Missississipi River.

I believe, although I can't prove, that the small 'stimulus' given to individuals was used to hide significant business advantages for big business. Kind of like 'pork' attached to normal legislation. So, in this case, getting the money is supposed to make us overlook whatever else Bush tied to the package.

The Dow dropped 300+??? I didn't get to see the CBS Evening News today because I was watching that Leprechaun 2 movie lol. I planned on watching it though for the segment on Hillary Clinton and what she's done in her past, ect. For your comment above about throwing a part when Bush is out of the White House, well....sounds like a good plan to me! lmao.

Yeah it was a nasty day for stocks. I think they were down over 2%. I'm not sure the procedure when the old President leaves the White House but I'd pay good money to see the secret service toss Bush out the front door into the White House lawn when its finally over.

There are real signs of recession, but ofcourse, you wouldnt expect any body who is republican to accept responsibility for the recession in an election year, would you? But that doesnt take away the fact of the matter

True but I attribute it more to Bush being ill prepared and naive. Part of me thinks he really thinks the economy isn't doing that bad. Its going to be a strange general election with McCain preaching fiscal conservatism but also backing Bush economic policies.

Sure, he has no idea about recession, because he doesn't have to be on budget. Means, that he has everything and he is on top list of money making people. From his point of view...hmmm...isn't he making more money with his company because of war?

Yeah I've never researched it but I have heard tons of rumors that Bush's cohorts and buddies are making a killing with oil prices at all time highs. It'd be interesting if someone launched an investigation, maybe Bush is a little smarter than we think he is. I'm definitely throwing a party when he's kicked out of the White House.

I'm all about that stimulus package. Not because I think its going to work but I think we, as Americans are bending over and taking it up the rear. In gas prices, in taxes, in health care, in every day grocery shopping. And the more we pay out, the less we have to show for it. Businesses are moving overseas, companies are laying off people left and right. Not many people are making enough to live off of.. its sickening, its disheartening. I almost want to pull my money from the stocks and run. I would make more money with it under my pillow at night. I can't say for sure if his comments are what made the Dow drop. But I think he has a very big impact on what is happening over all. And that scares me.

Yeah I have a trip planned (for a long time) to Vegas in April so that stimulus money will come in handy. I don't think it'll do very much for the economy but it will be nice when that money arrives.

Lord if we are not in a recession headed to a new depression, it will be a miracle. Honestly, what is lil bush worried about he owns oil, daddy will get him out, and yes let's not forget he shook hands with the man who he now fights. Strange days, just glad I never had money in the first place. Ainge

Very true. I'm in a similar boat. Financially can't much worse for me so I'm optimistic about the future now. I just hope this country never even considers ever letting another Bush in there. I'm thinking/hoping in 2009 our economy starts to recover.
