we have decided to have a big celebration this coming April for our loving mom. It's not her birthday though, we just want to thank her for being the best mom. she's a stroke survivor, stayed in the ICU for several weeks and we thought she'd never make it, but she's a fighter. she can walk and talk now and we want to give her something she would always treasure. we love her dearly and we are preparing for a concert, coz we are musicians. well aside from singing and dancing, can you guys suggest what else we can do to make it all memorable. thank you, suggestions badly needed!!

If you don't want to give her scrapbook, why not give her a quilt... not just an ordinary quilt, but one that has pictures and dedications on it from her family and friends. I saw it once in a wedding exhibition and they had this wedding quilt with pictures of the couple throughout their relationship. If you don't find a supplier that does these, you can buy these special iron paper and iron the images out on the quilt yourself.

Oh a quilt of all the memories, wow, great idea. i still have time to look for someone who supplies that and let me check the iron paper you're talking about as well.. i don't remember the movie i've watched but yeah, i remember a mom gave her daughter a quilt with pictures of 'em. this time it's gonna be the daughter giving her the quilt.. Thanks!

I think the movie you're talking about would be "Stepmom" with the kids giving Susan Serandon a quilt or "How to Make an American Quilt' where Winona Ryder receives the wedding quilt. I love both the movies! That's why I aslo love quilts. It's the story that goes behind the quilt that makes it so special.

Given that everyone involved has time yall can all bring photos and memorable items and make her a scrapbook. She would be able to have her fondest memories in it and it would definately be a treasure. Plus it would be more memorable because it would be made with love and not just something that you bought but something that all of you could be proud to give her.

I would get everyone in the family to give you pictures - old and new, of her but also things like you as kids & other family moments... then scan them onto the computer & arrange them into a slideshow. you can put a favorite song in the background. This can be done on power point or video software, etc...then you can play the video/presentation on a tv... If that's a little too advanced, you could also try putting together a scrapbook or a posterboard with all the photos you could also have the kids in the family do something cute, like spell out "thanks mom" with big letters or something... sounds like you guys have been through a rogh time & deserve somE fun!

congratulations to your mom. i don't think we say enough how much our mom's mean to us (and our dads too) i saw this on a tv show..they had the grandkids draw pictures of themselves and then put it together into a collage for their grandmother. i think this is a really nice idea. maybe they could draw pictures of themselves with her. or maybe have everyone write a letter to her or a favourite memory about her and put them togther in a book...

Put together a scrapbook of her favorite photos for her, make special pages, and when she opens it, tell her why you chose each pic that you chose.
