Yesterday, while i was doing my work in office, suddenly my system hung :( I was in between some important work. I was worried if i would loose all my data. Then i had no other go, other than to reboot my comp. Luckily, all my data were saved and i dint loose any. How do u react to this situation? Do u get irritated? wild? angry? or stay calm? I try to stay calm... but if it results in rework, then i loose my temper. Tell me how do u react to such situations

absolutely, i get irritated at the same time angry coz you work it out for how many hours and then at one moment your computer will hang even though all data were saved. And you know what it still keep on happening to me and we can't avoid it for sometimes so i learned from it so what i did is between every 5-20 minutes i saved it all the way so that if it hangs again i have my back up coz we can't know if your work is still there.

Ya tht is the best solution! Even i started saving back-ups of all my vital work/data. Also, i am trying to reduce my temper and if my comp gets hung, i immeidately walk out and have a cup of coffee... That way, i get diverted and i become cooler and get back my patience ;)

I usually stay calm and start thinking about why it got hung in the first place until it restarts...Once it restarts i forget everything and start doing what I was doing again.I'm a very patient guy i guess.

Its really irritating when you are in the middle of some important work and your computer hangs.. It irritates me too... I get angry when i boot up my computer for the first time in the morning and it shows..Detecting Proxy settings.. everytime even after taking so much time in booting up..it really frustrates..feels like throwing away that box in a dustbin.. Infact there has often been electricity problems at my side and what more worse can it be that power goes off while i m playing a game on my comp...Or busy talking to a friend of mine online...I have to start it all over again..It gets to my nerves sometimes

Upgrading ur RAM is a nice way to tackle with ur computer problems .. but what would you do when all this happens with ur system at which you work daily in your company and where you don't have enough rights to tinker with the hardware configuration.. Just log the request in their system and wait for their response to come and check the system..thats irritating too..Huh.. Can't do anything else...

Well, the computer at home was 256MB and in office its 2GB. So not a problem at all :) But these days my work is demanding to use VPC, due to which my system speed had decreased a lot and i have to bear with it :( even though the RAM is 2GB :( I have no other go other than to cope up with the slow speed. Thats when it hangs up sometimes all of a sudden :( I learning to be patient these days ;) patient as in hospital - "patient" LoL... Thanks for ur reply! God Bless!

I think this has happened to me only once or twice, and I get very angry about stuff like this. Once I was translating some tutorial for money and the power flickered so I lost almost a whole page. I tried to recover it but no success so I had to translate the lost date all over again.

Ohh! Rework is the only thing that makes me loose my temper... I i will have to do the same work all over again, i get irritated. Sometimes i try to cool down... but it takes real time. So i go have a cup of coffee or something, try to talk to my friends, and come back and then i feel better ;) Thanks for ur post!

Well when this happens to me I get really aggravated so I know I have to reboot and then I find out I lost everything. Oh well its time lost so then I have to start over and do it all again and if it happens again I just want to scream.

Yeah, even i use Windows. So Linux is free of hangs and crash! Thats nice to hear. But my work need Windows OS and so there is no chance that i can change or switch my OS... :( All i can do is keep backups and save data at regular intervals. Thanks for ur post!

That's nothing! I've had my harddrive fail on me TWICE. First time I didn't have a backup (I lost all my work, music, bookmarks, programs, films, games, settings, etc) and the second time I had a 2 month old backup which was the only reason I didnt throw my laptop out the window :D Normally, if you're system often hangs, you should try to find the reason why. A lot of the time it can be dodgy software or lots of programs running at once.

My system slows down suddenly but rarely hangs. I've gotten so used to it that I can almost predict when its gonna slow down!

When that happens to me, I usually get irritated. Especially when I'm on a deadline or the file I'm working on is a priority or urgent. I don't know much about computers so its doubly irritating for me when this happens because I have to wait for the people from the tech support department to sort my computer for me. Thankfully this doesn't happen much to me since the company has recently changed our old computer us with brand new high-end ones. ;)

I get irritated when these companies say "better connection, faster speed" and I get it and there I sit! I was on dial up for a long time, and then went to DSL - honestly, it wasn't that much faster! A little but for the price per month and what I used it for, it wasn't worth it. I got a special 12 month deal with Verizon for $14.99 for DSL and I was paying $10 for dial up. The reason I did it was to have the phone line open while online. That was the main reason. I value that, but the speed, it still takes about 2-3 minutes for it to "power up" and I dont have much on my system. Just hte basics. i don't surf and do games and all those things you can do. Just basicaly blogs, emails and some GPT stuff. And still I dont' see the fast speed they all proclaim! But what I do see often is "freezing"/ I can have 2 windows open to 2 differnet places and after awhile, one will freeze up. I have to actualy reboot to get it to unfreeze. That is my complaint!

It does happen often, at first I got very frustrated but now I learn to save every 10 mins. Actually it is vital to save every 10 mins! Specially if you have a really long project.

If it happens while I am doing something important, I really get mad. But of course, since grunting about the situation will not solve it, I usually calm down and assess the situation. Then I work on resolving it.
