Well, yesterday was Petey's birthday. It would have been his first birthday since he passed away. Since it's on the 29th he only got one every 4 years. He would have been 12 years old. I've been kind of down in the dumps most of the day and mostly playing EverQuest so I don't dwell on how much I miss him still. I thought about going out to see him but just couldn't do it. These are a few pics of the birthday boy :) Do you still think about your furry friends when they've passed away and their birthday or a holiday comes around? I still put up his Christmas stocking every Christmas :) HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETEY!! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Well considering Dana's birthday was March 19, the day before my anniversary, I can't forget hers.. And because she was a dalmatian and you don't see many dalmatians around, when we do, I remember her and really miss her.. Like the other day, we were in the parking lot and the department store and there was a dalmatian sitting in the passengers seat.. I didn't realized what I was saying was also effecting my 5 y/o and he started crying..I felt so bad, I didn't mean to make him cry..:(

I've had many pets I miss, though I don't really remember their birthdays or any of that...I don't think there's anything wrong with that though - a lot of people consider their pets as a friend or family or companion.

Am i right to assume that "Petty" was your pet?If so yes i have had a pet names "Higgens" he was my pet dog,and i loved him very much..It has been years since i have ever been able to get attached to another pet,i mean really attached...I do miss my boy he was my sweetie, and i carry a pic of him in my walet....One year ago my grandson came to my house with a tiny little blcck spot hidden under his coat,he had got this little one from and ice storm....she was a tiny 7 day old chuhuaha,i fed her from a bottle and took care of her,and i fell in love..She is now a year and one month old and she has been the first pet since "Higgins" that i have beeen able to love...She is our baby and i could not imagine life without her....So i do understand how you feel...

I am so sorry to hear that Petey passed away. How cool to have a birthday on Leap Day. I always think about my family members that passed away. Every birthday and holiday, but also when something during the day remindes me of them. I believe that they are still with us.

Yes I still miss my little Chelsea it will be a year soon that she has passed. Just yesterday I walked by a pile of sheets in the hallway that I had taken off the beds to be washed. As I walked by I had to stop look and smile because if Chelsea had been here she would have quickly found her spot to curl up in and snooze and as I walked by she would open her eyes as if to say your not going to steal my spot are you? Sometimes when I am opening drawers in the bedrooms or even kitchen for that matter I have expect her to coming running just at the sound of the drawer opening. She just has to see what is in those drawers and if possible squeeze in the best she can and have a little sleep. Oh I miss my Chelsea cat.

I always think of the pets we have lost in the past. not sure I want to get anymore just yet either as the pain of giving some of them up has stopped me so far. Maybe when we own our own home, I will get more then.

Yes, we should remember our furry friends! Just as we can remember their birthdays we can also remember them in our avatars and usernames. That's "Stormy" in my avatar. He was so named because some heartless person kicked him out of a car on a stormy night. "Stormy" is the black in my username. Red (Arf-Arf) was an Irish Setter born in Feb 1975 - 1989. Yellow (Princess) was a Golden Retriever born in 1992 - 2002. Black (Stormy) is a mongrel born in 2004. He's alive and doing well. I'm with you in remembering our furry friends now and forever.

What a sweet-looking puppy dog! I had a cat who lived to be eighteen years old. I never knew her exact birth date, but the day she passed I will never forget. I had her cremated and still have her ashes in a container. I'm sorry for your loss. I know what it's like to lose a pet who is like a child to you (or in her case, a very elderly person).

I'm sorry for your lose sweetie :( Since I've been an adult and had pets I consider my own I haven't lost any yet. But I know it will be tough when that time comes and I bet I'll act similarly to how you are. Our pets are our babies :)

Yes I still think about my mittons even though she has been passed away for two years now. I had her for seventeen years and they were very special years. She was a very big part of me. The things she did when I look back on our time together I smile. She helped me through some hard times just by being there. When I was down she would come over and sit very close to me and wouldn't move. Just sitting there petting her was a big help to me. The times that were happy times were absolutely wonderful. A person never truly stops missing a pet once they are gone. It gets a little easier as time goes on but your wonderful companion is never forgotten. They still live within your heart.

It's never easy losing a furbaby is it? I've had pets since I was five years old so I've seen many of my babies go to Rainbow Bridge. Yes, of course I often think of my former babies...It's weird but like sometimes I still expect to see one of them in one of their favorite places after all these years gone by. Someone once said though, if you're thinking of a particular furry friend it just might be because they are visiting you in spirit...or if you say their name...I often do that, I'll be looking at my Pyewacket, but say Keiko...who was Pyewacket's "grandpa"..I still miss Twinkie..she passed on December 15th in 2005. She was the regal grand dame of her dwelling. As for Christmas stockings? Oh Hoh! Long time ago, I got those really tiny stockings and embroidered the name of each cat I've ever had (and birds)..and attached them up on a single stitched crocheted string..When I hang it up near the ceiling it expands one whole wall length of my living room....this past Christmas as I hung it up I got teary eyed as I read the names..and remember each and everyone of them

Happy Birthday Petey! You must have loved him very much. I do still think about my Sadie. She was my 12 year old German Shepherd who had to be put down. She had a mole on her back that started bleeding and wouldn't stop. It was cancerous. I miss her very much.
