okay you go to a friend's house for a social evening, it is not your best friend, in fact you don't know this person all that well, there are several people over and the host decides to order pizza, she asks around and everyone is says pepperoni pizza, but you don't like pepperoni, do you speak up or go along with the crowd. I like pepperoni so I would be happy, but you don't so what do you do?

Hi winterose, You are just too nice for your own good! If I was in your shoes at that social gathering, I would have jumped up and said "Noooo! Pepperoni sucks! Let's get a Chicken Hawaiian pizza instead!" All the other people would have loved your enthusiasm and originality, and it might even have prompted some of them to suggest other alternatives too - you might not have been the only one there who didn't like pepperoni and just kept quiet rather than making a fuss. Actually, I reckon they should have gotten half a dozen pizzas so you'd have a bit of variety to choose from - including a spicy Mexican pizza or two. If nothing else, speaking up would have engaged the people there with your bubbling personality and helped them to get to know you better - and they'd all be very thankful that you had the courage to say what they might not have been willing to say themselves!

this is a hypothetical question, not about me, when people start with you, it means it is a situation for the reader to respond to, not anything that happened to the writer.

Hi winterose, I completely missed the hypothetical slant of the question - I suspect some people might actually pose their own experience in a similar fashion to your question. I guess that also raises another hypothetical - does the answer to a question depend on whether it's hypothetical or real? Hypothetical or not, I'd still go for the chicken pizza!

This is a good question. If I don't know most of the people there, chances are that I will just keep quiet and just eat the pepperoni. Like me for instance, I don't eat vegetables. But I have encountered situations like the above and I just numb my tongue and swallow the bit. I won't eat a lot but just enough not to offend. If your friends there already know you don't like pepperoni, chances are (well, hopefully) that they will sound out. Or a suggestion would be to order more than 1 pizza. You said there were a few of them right? Geez, if you are taking about the small pizza, it is 1 per person and it may not even be enough. Don't go for the biggest one that has enough for more than 2. Go for the medium one that has enough for 2. So instead of ordering 1 BIG pepperoni, bring out your most reasonable voice and suggest that we order a few pizzas of different flavors but keep those to the smallest size. This way, there is more variety for our palates. I am quite willing to bet that people would rather have 1 slice of pizza A and 1 slice of pizza B then 2 slices of same pizza A or B.

all those suggestions are up for grabs, the host will order as much pizza as is necessary, she or he says anyone for pizza everyone says great idea, what kind do you like the first person say pepperoni, and every one else chimes in pepperoni that is great, the trouble is you are the only one that doesn't like pepperoni so what do you do, she has to order more than one pizza

Like I mentioned, I would say something to the effect of: "Pepperoni is great! But just pepperoni would be too dull. Let's have 2 small pizzas instead of 1 large one."

I would tell the host/hostess, that i do not like pepperoni and if he/she can order a small (whatever garnish i want) pizza and that i'll cover the extra cost for that one small pizza. If he/she is a good host/hostess, i believe she'll ask around amongst the other guests to see if anyone else would prefer another kind of pizza to see if he/she can actually order a regular size pizza of that kind. If not, then he/she should offer to pay for my small pizza as well, to which of course, i'll say "no, it's ok, i got it" If i were the hostess, that's what i'd do.

she did ask everyone said pepperoni, so the question was would you go along with it or say something different.

That's an simple answer to this question. I would do just like my kids do when we get pizza and they don't like certain toppings. I would just pick the pepperoni off the pizza and leave it on my plate while I finish my pizza. When asked, I would just simply say I don't like pepperoni, and ask if anyone would like mine. Of course I would pick it off with a fork, so my hands wouldn't have gotten all over the food.

Hi winterose, If she will asked me, I will speak up and maybe contribute some amount to get another piece of what I would like if ever she will decide to carry the majority's pick, It will be okay for me to contribute an amount! It will not ruin my day actually, I am very flexible and food will never be an issue for me..LOL! as long as I will enjoy the company!

she is asking everyone, so people are saying what they want and from that she figures out which is the best pizza to buy

Actually if pepperoni is the only one they are ordering then I wouldn't make a fuss...I'd just pick off the pepperoni. If they are ordering more than one then I'd probably speak up and suggest something that I like. Luckly I love pizza just hold the onions, peppers, little fish and olives LOL I actually like mine with ham and pineapple but I'm flexible. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

they are discussing what pizza to order, so your say is as important as any other, would you speak up or be too shy, that was the point of this discussion

I like pepporoni pizza so it wouldn't be an issue for me. However, I draw the line at anchovies which I think are disgusting and couldn't eat if it was ever on my food. Even if I got a piece that it wasn't on. The idea that it touched the pizza I'm eating is just too much for me.

pretend you don't like pepperoni, so what do you do?

If I hated pepporoni as much as I hate anchovies I would have to make a fuss. If I didn't like it just a little, I would pick it off.

That would depend on my mood. I could either pick off the pepperoni or else offer to pay for my own. Either that, or I would eat before I got there and not have to worry about it. I have been to peoples' houses where they had food out for everyone and I didn't eat anything due to the fact that I am a very picky eater and I didn't like anything offered. All my friends know what I will or will not eat. If I didn't know this person that well, then the question needs to be asked, why would I go in the first place?

Since everyone said pepperoni I would either eat a slice with the pepperoni or just remove the few pieces of pepperoni.

im a vegetarian and hates pepperoni pizza. i would say "hey um... i dont eat meat so can you make like half cheese and half pepperoni? i'll pay for half of it." if the host refused then take the pizza, remove the pepperoni and eat the pizza without it. simple.
