Are you still adding friends?

At this point I have 14 pages of friends and I have every notification turned on. Well you can well imagine what my email looks like everyday. I don't mind and I keep adding friends as often as I see someone reply that is new to my discussions or whenever I get a request. I feel like its just that much more opportunity to have people see my discussions and to be able to reply to others. Besides you never know just where you might make a friend, not just to mylot with, but that will be in your life forever. Do you try to keep your friends at a minumum in order to manage your mylotting? Or do you add them no matter what? Do you stay to a certain number or does it not matter to you?

I became active at mylot hardly a month back though i created my profile almost 15 months back.. I don't have a long list of friends as if now ..27 is the exact number.. But i don't mind being friends to anyone here. If any friend's request comes to me its all my pleasure being a friend .. But most of the people here belong to a different country.. So i don't make a choice in selecting friends..Well i think thats a good idea.. People who respond to your discussions .. add them to your friend list so next time when you start or either they start a new discussion so it gives a better opportunity to let them see.. and so they can respond.. So i m expecting a friend's request from your side and i hope u reply to my discussions too..lol

I would be glad to add you as a friend, no matter what country you are from. Thanks for answering to my discussion and giving me that opportunity.

That sounds like me I add new friends all of the time. I have 10 pages of friends myself. I feel the same way the more the merrier and the more chances I have of someone reading my discusions.

Exactly. I did go back a few minutes ago and delete a couple of people who haven't been here in a long time and that didn't seem to have anything beneficial to say according to their profile, but normally I add everyone.

providing you have the time and energy to attend to the emails, you have to be making a good amount of income that way, so good for you!!!!!

I have 10 pages of friends at this point, but I do know when I get some time, I have to cut this down because I know a lot of them don't post any replies to my discussions and that, to me, is what friends are for, helping each other out to make some money. I have all of their notify buttons on and I receive over 100 emails a day from their start discussions. I respond to almost all of them so that I don't have to search out other discussions to respond to, but a lot of them don't return the favour. I don't stay within a certain number of friends and I do approve all the requests I get and when I see they aren't helping me as a friend should, I will delete them. I need to do that today, clean up my list. Thanks for the reminder.

You are welcome for the reminder and I think you make some good points. Since posting this discussion I have come to look at adding friends a bit differently and found that I am being a bit more selective about those I add.

Either I'm much further behind than I thought, or you are really busy on mylot, because for only joining one day ago you sure have alot of posts.

I do not go out to look for friends, but when they make a request I add them, I have about 23 pages of friends now, and I think I will have start eliminating the ones that are no longer active because this is just crazy now.

I think I must get at least 5 requests a day. I have found that I am being a little more discerning about who I add, just simply because I have had a few people leave off the wall comments on my posts. Fortunately, to date though, those aren't the ones requesting my friendship.

I barely have three pages of friends! LOL I will keep adding as I see them or think to add them! I love to open my email and see all the mylot discussions... and then try and respond to all of them. Some of them tho I just don't have anything to say that will really help or mean anything to anyone so I just delete that email! But I love my friends here at Mylot!

Although my email is always filled to the brim, I like getting the notifications. It helps me to organize what to reply to, who has replied to me and who has added to a discussion more than once.

Thanks for responding to my discussion. Looks like I really got behind in answering to the comments. I need to sit down and spend an entire day going through my discussions and responding to those comments that I missed. My apologies again.

I still add friends, but I am very cautious. I do not like getting flamed and I do not like someone not reading my post correctly and then rant about their life and how horrible I am being a Christian because I said what they are doing is wrong. I usually go over my replies and check to see if that person also has the same interest I am trying to get as many friends on at that time. So what that means, is that for instance, if I am adding friends in the novelist category, and maybe you are not into novels, then later on I will start adding friends in the writing category and you will be in it, and so on. I do not keep them at a certain level, I will eventually have some of them answering my posts, and it also makes it easier for me to find something to respond to besides the simple posts such as "how do you like your coffee?" or "did you do a good deed today?"

I never thought about adding friends in the manner that you do. That really gives me a new perspective. Thanks. It is certainly something to think about.

I try to add new friends to my list as they respond to my responses but they never seem to afirm it or just don't answer back, maybe i'm doing something wrong or they don't like my opinion.

I usually accept any friend requests that I get. I honestly don't get very many friend requests at all. I don't know why though.

I think the more people see you and your discussions, the more likely they would be to add you.

I admire you have so many friends and am happy to be one of them. Because I was very busy with work in the past few days, I spent less time on Mylot. But I will catch up. More friends more ideas. I still add friends.

For me personally, its just easier to methodically go through my notifications. That way I figure I've got more covered.

I'm still approving new requests but time constraints force me to turn notify off for the "friends" who keep starting many many new discussions every day but never or hardly ever reply to any of my own. It just isn't fun when there is not mixing you know, like a cocktail party where one person grabs you and talks and talks but then says "Enough about me, let's talk about you. What do YOU think of me?" Those I need to keep down to a manageable number. I hate to even think of it because I like all my friends, but at some point I am going to have to make some cuts, too.

I am probably pretty guilty of that. However, if I don't see notifications in my email, I don't always have the time to seek out someone's profile to see if they have posted something new or not. My apologies if I have not replied to some of your posts. I will try to be more aware of that.

Hi, I have not ignored any of my friends request, hence I hope there is more than 200. In this I am not sure how many are active, I just go to friends discussions which I preference and responds to that if I get a suitable one. Till no friend has been deleted and no one had given any discomfortabilities to me.

I am lucky in that regard to for the most part. I haven't had anyone on my friend's list cause any problems. Any problems I have had are people that I have not spoken with previously.

I have 6 pages of friends, soon to be three. About half of the people haven't been on Mylot in months. Do you delete inactive people every once in a while? Take care

I did that for the first time the other day. I got only as far as two people though and then I just didn't have the heart. LOL.

Hi kbourgerie, I'm still adding friends but I haven't checked to see how many pages I have. I did delete a few that weren't responding to any of my discussions. When someone asks to be a friend, I always approve them and anyone that I've deleted would have been on my friends list for at least a year. Blessings.

I deleted a few the other day, but they were referrals that I had earned on another site and since joining hadn't done a thing. They obviously never intended to.
